We had the good fortune of connecting with Damaris Grogan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damaris, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Philippians 4:13 “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” – NLT

This affirmation is so powerful and means the world to me. It is the source of strength that I rely on daily and is also what gave me the courage to take a leap of faith and open our agency.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Grogan Management is a boutique full service model + talent agency that provides the entertainment, advertising, & fashion industries with many of the most viable clients in film, television, commercials, voice-overs, and print.

I’ve been working in the business for 19 years and consider myself very fortunate for the seamless success in opening GMGMT 6 years ago. Our Agency is a boutique agency, and as such, we are very selective on who we sign and are careful not to have too many of one particular type – If a talent is signed to the agency, it’s because we want you; each person that we represent plays an essential role on our roster. I have always felt that quality is a lot better than quantity so we keep that in mind when deciding to onboard new talents to the roster ,

Although I have acquired many new hats in becoming an agency owner, I still thrive in the booking room and love nurturing new relationships with producers + casting directors and enjoy the constant challenge to get talents seen. Notifying a talent of an audition is a great feeling. Telling them they have secured the role is simply the best feeling – that sense of happiness and fulfilment is contagious. Everyone in the office gets a huge lift, which makes the job that little bit easier.

Making the decision to still work alongside bookers “in the field” gives me the opportunity to keep 10 toes on the ground and aware of how the industry is changing first hand which helps tremendously in staying ahead of the curve and ultimately benefits the talent that we represent.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband has absolutely been my biggest supporter on earth since the beginning. I would be remiss to not shout him out first and foremost. My family, friends, and all who have loved and supported me along the way. Weather it be an encouraging word, client referral, agency recommendation, or someone simply watching my babies while hosting auditions, It has taken a village and that truth keeps me humble; I absolutely did not get here by myself.

Business wise, I started working in this industry as an agency intern at 18yrs old so I absolutely would not be where I am without the help of everyone that I’ve worked with in all aspects of the industry. From producers, casting directors, stylists, photographers, acting coaches, agencies, talent managers, etc. – All have had a personal hand in teaching me the intimate details of each facet of the industry as I’ve literally grown up working in the business which has coined me the label of “young veteran” amongst my peers.

After opening Grogan Management Agency, some have become competitors, others amazing cheerleaders that send awesome referrals, and the rest have become clients which has helped make the transition from booking agent to business owner an excellent experience.
