We had the good fortune of connecting with Coach Ukay Ekong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Coach Ukay, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is that my life is God-centered. The moves that my company makes is lead by prayer and the lessons found in the Bible surrounding faith and sacrifice. The success we find outside of that is all due to the consistency of adding value to followers through information explaining how to improve health and wellness. Impactful “Before” and “After” photos, or allowing viewers to peek into live training hasn’t hurt popularity either.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a fitness coach working in a private gym facility. I train everyone from youth to adults, partners, groups and everyone in between. I create meal plans and tailor strategies for what goals my clients want to reach. What sets me apart is outside of multiple certifications an in-home fitness video, as well as a virtual athliesure store, I’m also a self-published author. My self-help workbook provides relief from issues dealing directly with mental health, bullying, while also infusing instructional fitness videos. I’m the product of Nigerians who came to this country with modest finances and big dreams, so childhood was filled with discipline and high expectations. For a few months I even experienced homelessness, so I know and truly understand what sacrifice looks, feels, and even tastes like. So I’m able to honestly speak to those ready to give up in any capacity of their life. As a coach, my passion drives me to continually institute creative training circuits and motivational support for my clients daily. Faith in God and belief in being created for a purpose has definitely been the difference between me winning and losing in life. I’m here for the “underdog“, the forgotten, the ones that most gave no chance of success. My story will hopefully be the catalyst needed for them to believe -anything is possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In Dallas I think one of our best spots has to be the Addison strip on Beltline. Great food and fun. Downtown has great clubs as does the Lower Greenville or Uptown. Check out NorthPark or the Galleria Mall for an upscale shopping experience. Then at least once visit Arlington to enjoy Six Flags and AT&T Stadium.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So thankful to all my followers, family and friends. Everyone who’s purchased my book and expressed the change it’s made in their lives. God’s truly the author of my story but to all of you who had any part of helping carry me through this journey thus far – I have nothing but love and admiration for you and I’m so thankful.
