We had the good fortune of connecting with Cathy Williamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cathy, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The success of my brand has happened because I am who I am. I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not. I always want to be authentic and let women know what’s going on in my life. My goal in starting my blog was to be an inspiration for women over “a certain” age and to help women who are going through breast cancer.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a blogger/influencer in the fashion, beauty, and lifestyle industry. I started my blog eight years ago, two months before I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. I had no idea what I was doing initially (and sometimes I still don’t). I’ve had to rely on the “fake it til you make it” motto a lot! As an older blogger, I had to learn that my computer would be my friend, and I better get to know it better. It wasn’t easy, but perseverance has been key.
I hope that I can always be an inspiration for women in mid-life and women that are going through breast cancer. I had a very aggressive form of it and want women to see that they can overcome it and live a healthy life. If I can inspire one woman, then I have achieved my goal!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Remember, I am a fashion blogger, so shopping is my jam! My favorite places to shop are, Northpark, Highland Park Village, Tootsies, Stanley Korshak, Cabana, Canary, Planet Bardot, Susan Saffron, Ylang 23, To Be Continued, The Real Real, and Nicholson Hardie. The most interesting stores are Grange Hall and Scout Design. Favorite places to eat would be R&D (always), Al Beirnets, Uchi, Lover’s Seafood, Bistro 31, and Nona. Favorite coffee spot is La La Land Kind Cafe. The best place for a drink is Park House.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Gosh, so many people! My family has supported me for the last eight years. My blogger friends that I have met along the way (especially in my age group) have been extremely supportive.
