We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Pruitt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cameron, how do you think about risk?
Risks are everywhere. Anything you do involves some form of risk based on your perception. Some may say leaving a job to pursue entrepreneurship is a risk due to potentially having a lack of financial stability. But what is the difference if I stay at a job that can lay me off at anytime? I think when that happened to me back when covid came I realized that risk is everywhere and If i am going to be around it I might as well choose the risks I want to take. Once I started intentionally choosing my risk then I felt more empowered, I felt more myself, i felt happy even if things didn’t always go well. Risk to me is more than just its negative definition but more so an opportunity for change, lessons, and growth.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So my business Iota Fix focuses on helping current or future small business owners in leveraging the power of credit to help them fund their business. A lot of people do not realize the power of credit and a major goal for my business is to educate them in financial literacy. I have always had decent credit because I just always paid my bills on time. I never understood my credit score just that underneath the number it would say GOOD. I never even understood the benefits of my credit cards. Once I started my financial literacy journey and learned that I can travel for free, get cash back deals, and get funded for my business ventures that was a game changer. My eyes were opened up to another world and more possibilities. So since these are things that aren’t typically taught in school especially within my African American demographic, my goal is to educate more people on this topic while at the same time giving them a second chance at having good credit. Not enough people know or knew how to manage their credit or use it. People want their own business, want to travel, a new car or home and they can have all that. They just need to be empowered. I think the most exciting thing is when my clients get results and are able to reach their goals.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For the night life we would go to Deep Ellum and Oak Lawn. Depending on the weather we would check out other attractions like Six Flags & Hurricane Harbor. We would try out multiple brunch spots. Tour some museums and other local Dallas attractions. For me it depends on what kind of friend I am dealing with.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Oh man there are so many people to thank. Dejorian Moore of Verified Tax Services who has been a wonderful mentor to me. Rich Dad Poor Dad which is an amazing book. EYL (Earn Your Leisure) Podcast who led me to find Marcus Barney AKA Him500 who created the Organization called Recession Proof. I joined Recession Proof May of 2021 and the knowledge and network has been insane. Last but not least the entrepreneurs that are in my family.
