We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Myles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Great question here. I am a father of two small boys. Will, 6 and Wyatt, 4. One spring day in 2019, I was looking for something fun to do with them. They had been cooped up in the house for way too long and needed more outdoor time. I thought about making them some bubbles. Typical me, go big or go home. So I thought about finding out how to make giant bubbles. I found a video on youtube and discovered the art of of giant bubble making. I made my own brew and my own wands. I had so much fun doing it! I had never seen bubbles so big! Pretty soon I noticed I was still making the bubbles and the kids had moved on to other projects. It was very therapeutic for me. After getting really good at bubbling (I was making bubbles the size of an F-150), I wanted to share my hobby with the rest of the world. I figured I could start a small business and make some money on the side. Turns out what I enjoy most of all is all the volunteer stuff I do. My first real gig was for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk for the cure. It was fun seeing people smile at my work. You will never outgrow bubbles. Everyone loved seeing the bubbles at the Walk events and eventually the Ft. Worth chapter Alzheimer’s Association invited me to all of their events.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is very rewarding in that its art in motion and living in the moment. A bubble always reminds me of human life. From the moment a bubble is born from a wand, it is constantly fighting against unseen forces, trying to perfect itself and be the best version it can be. Some bubbles float away and are so awe-inspiring to watch as they float high above all others. Some bubbles live a very quick and chaotic life only to burst because that was all that they could endure. I think what sets me apart from others is my passion. I look for every opportunity to do bubbling even if it’s a lot of free work. Our world is hurting and I just want to cause more smiles. Ugly world? Beautiful bubbles…problem solved. I’m actually looking forward to getting into doing weddings. Nobody is doing that and I want to be the first to really own that market. I would not say I’m successful yet. This is a side gig. I will say that I have enjoyed EVERY part of starting a business. It has been a lot of fun creating something from an idea. I’m most proud of my logo. I think it’s very exciting! I have learned that a new business takes time. Don’t expect it to all come to you. You have to make it work until your reputation starts to bring you business. I am a combat veteran. I drove tanks in the Army and did 27 months total in Iraq. My army buddies probably get a chuckle out of my craft but I don’t care. Do what makes you happy as long as you aren’t hurting yourself or others.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Truthfully I’m not that much fun. I would probably want to go camping or scuba diving somewhere. I would drag them to the gun range. Bubbles would make an appearance for sure at some point. Instead of going to a restaurant, I would do one of my crawfish boils I have every year.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my loving wife Allysa and my Mother Suzan for being encouraging and supportive of my business.
