We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Law and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon, how do you think about risk?
When I think of risk I always think of how I’ll feel if I don’t take it. I’ve always been a risk taker and a bit of rebel when it comes to what is expected or what people are used to. It’s played a big part on my journey as a artist and designer throughout the years especially as I’ve become more closer to my art. Now more than ever I truly believe in taking risks and doing what you think you can’t do because once you do it you’ll be grateful that you chose to. If you don’t take risks you won’t ever know how good life truly can be.Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
AZHANI is a brand that I started almost four years ago actually. It started off as just something I did as a hobby with denim and using different mediums for patchwork that was solely for my wardrobe. Eventually friends and peers started to notice and ask about it and wanted me to make custom pants for them and I did and the more I did the more I saw how bigger I can make my brand. The journey definitely has been hard and is still hard as a young black business owner who literally started this from the ground up by myself however I wouldn’t want to have had it any other way because I feel so liberated knowing this is something I created. I’m most excited about the future and the current journey I’m on with my brand. I have so many ideas and projects I’m working on to really make my vision come to life and just knowing that I have endless possibilities of where I can take this is so satisfying. I want the world to know that this brand was created for the true misfits, the true rebels and the ones who understand imperfection. This is only the beginning of the brand and where it will be, I cannot wait to expand our brand into exactly the experience it’s meant to be seen as.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am probably the worst person to plan a itinerary because it never goes that way lol. I’m big on having of course certain things I would want to do but I’m also big on the moment and whatever you feel and going forward that way. It’s so many interesting places to see and visit in Dallas that even me a local resident is still finding new experiences and places I’ve never been before.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Anyone who has ever supported my journey and continues to support me.
