We had the good fortune of connecting with Blakk Juu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blakk, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I feel like the most important part of my success is having a strong team behind you. My team / Label Keepit1hundredint is always steady progressing and making sure we keep pushing forward to reach goals that we set out for each year. I feel like this past year we definitely obtain new heights and I’m excited to see what the new year will bring.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like what sets me apart is my diversity. I can make music that anyone can relate to. I learned a lot during this journey and the biggest thing i learned was to never trap myself in a bubble. Switch styles up consistently so that way no one could ever place me in a one specific category. Be in a league of your own. I had to over come a lot of mental set backs with either doubt or anxiety/ minor depression. It was a lot of times in the past where I was actually going to give up on myself. But I honestly feel like God gave me the gift I have for a reason and with that being said , what didn’t kill me made me stronger..
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say my favorite spots to hit up would be downtown just feel the culture and the vibe. I like arcade style type places too so I definitely would go to places like Andretti, but I don’t really go out to often since the pandemic hit so honestly my studio would be a top place. Just keep creating.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a big shout out to my label execs Dee and Dj Cool Tray. They’ve put a lot of time and hard work in getting me where I’m at today. I feel like they helped reach a different level with my music and are constantly pushing me to do greater things by not letting me settle in my comfort zones. Also I would like to shout out my Girl “DaMara Luv” who is also a artist. (Her Ep is dropping on the 1st of Jan by the way so definitely get that) but I owe her everything. She’s been there from the jump and has helped me a lot through times I been down. Her support is unmatched honestly. Lastly I want to shout out my boys / my team ( Jeremiah Drake, Jason Reed, Dez Campbell, Darnell Lee) just to name a few but definitely all my boys have been there for this journey and have constantly supported and showed love. Also My boy “S.Y.N and Hussle Made” as well.
