We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Bowland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth, can you talk us a bit about why you love what you do?
It all began with an inner voice. The inner voice told me to start my own publishing company. I’d been writing for several years at this point and had four books published. As creatives, we can come up with millions of reasons why we shouldn’t step out on faith and try something new. It took three years, but I did it and started Onbeperkt Media. Ever since January 2019, I’ve been on a creative high. I finished two additional books and am currently in the process of writing my seventh book under Books by Beth. Sometimes, letting go of how it’s always been and stepping out and blazing your own trail can be very liberating and fearful at the same time. But in the end, it becomes worth all the blood, sweat, and tears throughout the process. I love what I do because it’s a God-given talent that allows my mind to travel to places that I’ve never been before. I love being able to slip away into another world and create people, places, and things. These experiences are not only for my own enjoyment. Via my writing, I’m able to bring readers along on a unique ride through my imagination and allow them to experience and see life from a different perspective. My creative flow just kept going, and from Onbeperkt Media, a second branch grew, which just recently launched in Tweens, Teens, Thinkers, and Things—a cool, trendy, and inspirational apparel, drinkware, and home fashions online store. I’ve had so much fun with this line. It’s still very much in the infancy stage, but again, once the creative pump has been primed, there is no limit to what you can do. By the way, the meaning of Onbeperkt is “unlimited.” Life is short and change happens quickly. There’s no time to sit at the table with should’ve, would’ve, and could’ve. It is often beneficial to step out of your comfort zone and live your dreams. It can be hard work and challenging at times, but if you don’t take a chance, you will always wonder what might have been.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Writing & Creating!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Arlington Highlands. It has great restaurants and shopping. The new mega entertainment complex in Arlington–Cowboys AT&T stadium, The Rangers Global Life Field, and Texas Live. Arlington is the new hotspot!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! My always encouraging and loving husband Phillip, daughter Shannan and son-in-law Joel and my granddaughter Ryan for just being adorable. My circle of friends and family. Thank you!
