We had the good fortune of connecting with Becca Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Becca, how do you think about risk?
I’ll start by saying I am 100% on board for taking risks in life. I fully believe in following your heart and doing what feels right, even if it’s risky. That being said, I also know that all major decisions in life need to be made with careful thought as well. I used to be someone who did not take many risks in life for fear of failure. As I grew into adulthood, I started realizing what things I’d be missing out on in life if I didn’t take risks. Since my early 20’s, I’ve made it a point to follow my heart, risky or not. And I can say that nothing detrimental has happened to me by doing so! When it came to starting my business, I decided I was either going to spend my life “thinking” about it and “waiting” for the right time, or I was just going to do it. So I did it! And I’m so glad I did. Though I’m still in the very early stages, I already have more happiness career-wise than I ever have. I’m finally doing something that’s just for ME, that makes me happy and feeds my creativity and my soul. My advice to people is to always take risks in life. Do so carefully, and be prepared, but just do it. You’ll never regret taking a chance on something that could change your life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is an online women’s boutique. The boutique world is rapidly growing, and one of my biggest challenges is standing out from the crowd. My store offers pieces that are simple, yet unique and stylish. The goal of my store, and what I try to make my customers feel, is to show women that they are beautiful as they are and that they can wear whatever clothes they please and still be incredible. I want women to know that they don’t have to follow trends to be stylish, and that they should wear pieces that make them feel 100% like themselves. I am most proud of the fact that I have started this business by myself (with support from family), having no prior knowledge of business. Getting to where I am now has been a challenge, as I’ve done everything myself. I’ve overcome some bumps in the road by constantly researching what I don’t know, planning and setting goals, and staying confident that I am on the right track to making my dreams come true. I’ve learned valuable lessons during this process – like I should probably know more about taxes than I do! And that success does not come overnight. A lot of sweat and tears gets put into starting a business. What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that I am a regular woman, a mom, a wife, a daughter and friend, who is setting out to give fashion a new purpose. That purpose is to FEEL good, rather than just to look good. Fashion has played a major role in my life personally when it came to feeling good about myself and re-finding myself after becoming a mom. I realized that clothing is so much more than a cute outfit. It’s about feeling free to be who you are, wear what you want regardless of trends, and live your truest self.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had to plan an itinerary in Dallas, I would definitely plan it around the State Fair. That would be a full day of adventure and amazing fried food. I would also make a trip to Legacy West for some shopping and good eats at Legacy Hall. Katy Trail Ice House is a must – their brisket tacos are so good! Another must-do activity would be to do a boat day on one of the DFW lakes. We would definitely do dinner, drinks, and live music at one of many fun spots in Deep Ellum. The options in DFW are endless, but these would absolutely make my itinerary!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have to shoutout my husband, Austin. Without him I would not be where I am today. Cliche as it may sound, he has helped me to be able to start my own business. Our relationship began with me following my heart, and I haven’t stopped since. He is all the things I’m not, and my biggest supporter and fan. I couldn’t be the person I am without him.
