We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Hale and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It was always in me to create. Freedom of expression is such a beautiful thing and I (being an artist) feel like a way to connect with me is through the things I make reality. I ask myself the questions “Does it inspire you?”, “Do you feel something from it?” and “What does it mean to you?”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
It was not easy, At first a lot of people didn’t take me seriously and i had to work extremely hard to quiet the unnecessary noise around me to truly enjoy myself in the things I’ve always saw myself doing. I’m proud of where i am now. I feel like we all have that moment where we want to be further than where we currently are, but we also have to trust the process. I’m currently working on making sure that I stop and smell every flower along the way on my journey . It’s important that I do that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Whew! Y’all just reminded me that I need to give my best friend a do-over of the city. I would most definitely take her to Melba’s Poboys. I had an amazing experience there. I’ve been wanting to try the Cajun Dragon Grill, so that will most definitely be one of the spots we check out. If we ever in the mood for something sweet I’ll probably take her to this beautiful coffee spot called ‘Backatown Coffee Parlour.’ We may do the Riverwalk for a bit to catch up on life. I may take her to one of the top lounges in the city. Probably will hit up the Paradise Lounge on Magazine. Magazine St in general is just nice to be at so majority of our time will probably be spent there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a huge support system, but i would have to give my shoutout to my musical influences will.i.am, Dawn Richard, Big Freedia & Todrick Hall. Each of them have inspired me beyond anything. I’m able to take from those wonderful artists and blaze a trail of my own with the tools these individuals have laid out for me. I am able to be me because of them.
