We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Liserio-Owens and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My family! I have 5 beautiful kids and 3 amazing stepsons. I want them to have everything I never did. I didn’t have a bad life growing up. My mom always made sure we had what we needed and wanted. We never went without. It’s just decisions I made has caused me to have a rough adult life and I struggle a little bit from time to time and I just don’t want that for my kids or their kids, and I realized here recently in the past year that it’s not to late to change my life around and give them the life they deserve and leave something behind for them to be proud of. I also realized that my mistakes and past decisions do not define me or my future. So being successful at this and following through with it I’d more important than anything I’ve ever started and I’m determined to finish it. So right now I’m working on my GED so I can get into a beauty school by the Fall and get my license because I want to be able to open a salon in the future. So right now I just practice lashing on my friends and family as well as making custom made lash strips. I am hopeful and faithful that all of this will work out and I’ll have Luxx Lashes By Aly on a building someday!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m still in the beginning stages so I’m still unsure but the vision I have for what it can be is what I’m most excited about! I know it’s not gonna be easy but my support system is amazing and my kids are my biggest inspiration. I know I’m gonna have challenges as well and I’m ready for them and I open to any pointers and advice. I just want the world to know about me and my brand is that everything I’m doing is for the love of my children and of course for the love of lashing and making women feel and look beautiful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Crazy that this is a question because I have a friend coming to visit soon and were just talking about this. So first for breakfast I would take her to Dos Molinas on 25th st, then maybe walk around the stockyards for a bit. For lunch we would probably go to my favorite fried chicken spot Lisa’s Chicken (the one on Hemphill by La Gran plaza though bc that’s the best one) and for our night out we gotta stop at my favorite spot Old School Texas on Jacksboro Highway for some drinks and dancing and then 2am tacos at fuel city in haltom for the drunk munchies lol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course my entire family and my suport system! My wonderful husband but mostly My grandmother! My sweet guardian Angel! Marina Liserio I lost her last year in February and it’s been the hardest thing ever! I remember when my grandpa died almost 21 years ago I was so distraught my grandpa was my favorite person on the planet he was my king I didn’t think I could live without him. So there I am crying hysterically in so much pain and she came to me and said “ mija ya no llores, you won’t have any tears left for me.”, but boy was she wrong and for the first time ever I must add. Truth is I haven’t stopped crying yet. I miss her so much and I promised her the night she died that I was gonna better myself and make her proud. I plan on keeping this promise and doing so much more in her memory. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever met in my life and I’m proud to be able to call her my grandma and I just want to thank her for everything.
