We had the good fortune of connecting with Alvin Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alvin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I needed to eat, I didn’t want to work for customers, so I started my own rehab company, working and redoing houses to my liking, and then selling them. This lead to my being in the mortgage business, which lead me more in to the field of real-estate, learning how things were financed. So this led to me owning apartments, and now building them.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Real-estate developer and I’m excited about the future. I’m excited because we are creating apartment communities like no other AND we get to bring a lot of people with us that ordinarily wouldn’t have these opportunities.

I have been doing real-estate for a Long time and this career hasn’t been easy. It takes a lot of cash to build these developments and I wasn’t born with it.

Some of the challenges we face today and have faced were all around Money, cash, or access to it. We have been very fortunate that I’ve been able to create win/win relationships with others that have pushed us this far along.

Some of the most powerful things I’ve learned along the way are: If you help enough people get what they want, it will be easy for you to accomplish what your dreams are.

My Brand is one of Enduring. If you are willing to pay the price, you can have whatever you desire. “Make sure the decision you’re about to make is worth the decision you are about to make.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would do dinner at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse the first evening, wake up the following day and do the Perot museum, lunch downtown outside at Clyde Warren Park and hang downtown. For dinner we would probably do Moxie’s and have a few drinks and meet some of my other peeps.

Next day we would come up to the Star in Frisco for breakfast, hang out around the campus and then do lunch. That evening we would do Sushi in Legacy West and check out the shops there.

Next day we would do breakfast in Arlington and do a tour of the Cowboy stadium. That evening we would hang out around Lowe Hotel and enjoy and evening out there at Texas Live.

Next day we would tour my developments in Greenville, TX, Princeton, TX. and then Dallas. We would spend all day looking at my sites, touring other assets and painting my picture of what our business is.

Then i would dens them home, enough is enough.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To All of our Associates at Hope Housing Foundation and at Multifamily Monopoly, I MUST say thank you. Because of what you do Everyday to keep the dream alive, I am able to continue to plow uncharted territory to accomplish the things that we have been charged to do.

Thank you.
