We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisa Culp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Haute Hot Lingerie was born out of the need to compromise on the look when you are looking for the right size. I had my personal frustrations not being able to find the lingerie sets that were both beautiful and fitting to my “non standard” body type. After years of having to settle and alter the lingerie that I was buying, and hearing about similar issues from other women I decided to create a better solution. Haute Hot is created with the idea that you can adjust the pieces and make them fit your shape, as well as show them off while pairing them with your favorite outfits. Wear it underneath or wear it out – the choices are unlimited. People often say that lingerie is not important since nobody sees it under your clothes, but I’m a firm believer that women’s day begins with lingerie and the way it makes them feel about themselves. It can totally transform how you feel and give you that boost of fabulous that every woman loves.
Haute Hot Lingerie is the company by women and for women, created out of my dream to be connected with fashion and beautiful women, to make women feel confident and love themselves.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Alisa Culp, I was born and raised in Russia and came to America when I was 19 not knowing the language or anybody in this country. Dallas has been home for me for over 10 years and I’m very excited that now it’s also home for Haute Hot Lingerie – the company that is here to make women feel confident and sexy in their own skin, to help women love themselves and to celebrate women and their beauty. Being a foreigner and a woman with “non-standard” body shape has always made me stand out, and with time I learned to appreciate, love, and be proud of my uniqueness. Coming to a different country across the world at a young age has been quite a journey, but I believe that when you work hard and follow your heart and passion – dreams become reality. Be kind, trust the process and never give up – those are the main lessons that I have learned along the way. Haute Hot Lingerie takes after me and represents my personality. Its just like a Russian woman – sensual and soft, but daring and edgy all at the same time. We encourage women to feel confident and embrace their body, and give them the lingerie that can be adjusted to fit their unique shape perfectly. Our brand voice is bold, uncompromising and daring. Some people claim to live on the edge – well we rarely stay within the lines. While we certainly appreciate the quiet confidence and clothes that’s made for wearing – ours is more like a not-taking-no-for-an-answer attitude and pieces made for taking them off. We know that lingerie can definitely bring the mood up a notch, even if you don’t take it off completely and only move it to the side. We love it all – the heat, smeared lipstick, scratches down the back and everything in between. That is the essence of Haute Hot.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To me Dallas is always full of surprises! When I first moved here, I was shocked that horses don’t walk down the street and cowboys with their hats and boots don’t strut up and down the street. Today I love how much of a cosmopolitan and multi cultural city Dallas is, its has everything that I personally love – art, music, great restaurants and nature. When showing some friends around, I would start by staying at four seasons – Las Colinas is like an oasis in the huge metroplex, and property is just gorgeous. Tennis, golf, relaxing pools and spa, Texas-inspired food, live music – they got it all covered.
After getting over jet-lag (assuming my friends are visiting from Russia, ha!) we would come spend some time in downtown. Historic sightseeing, museums, art exhibits and interactive spots like ATT discovery district – time for fun and culture. When I visited the Holocaust Museum is has literally left me speechless, I know everyone has their preferences but I personally feel that everybody should visit just to understand the scale of the tragedy. At the same time I am a big kid at heart, so Dallas Zoo and Dallas Arboretum would be my other go-to places for my out-of-town friends visiting.
Now that we are finished with cultural part – its time for dinner. My latest favorite hot spot is Monarch at the National – hands down the best Italian restaurant I have been to in a while, and service is immaculate. Dinner, drinks, fun swanky bar (and Instagrammable areas of course!) – its all there. For a casual dinner I would pick Victory Park – variety of lively local restaurants and bars with various menus – perfect for a late afternoon, weekend or a happy hour.
And of course if next morning my friends feel like we overindulged and tried too many items off the menu – I would take them to Classic Pilates to burn off some calories and stretch. That is my number one workout practice on my list, and if you haven’t tried it already – giveaways it a shot, its suitable for every person and the instructors are extremely helpful and will guide you throughout the class.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As a first generation immigrant I know the struggle of being different, misunderstood and sometimes even shamed for being a foreigner. Haute Hot Lingerie is a family business and I am eternally grateful to my parents, as I could never build it without their love, hard work and dedication. My whole family still lives in Russia and it brings me so much joy to have them be a part of a company that we created together, and see how much pride they take in it. Anything is possible when you believe in yourself, and my parents showed that to me by example.
