We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Garcia-Ponce and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, how does your business help the community?
The Latina Social Club Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) is a community-based organization dedicated to fostering a supportive environment for Latinas. By providing opportunities for networking, cultural preservation, and advocacy, the club strengthens the Hispanic community in DFW and contributes to the broader movements of women’s empowerment and gender equality worldwide. We actively share community events with our group to promote local businesses and create a vibrant sense of community. Additionally, we support BIPOC, Latina, and small-owned businesses, helping to empower these underrepresented groups and contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Latina Social Club Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) is a community-based organization that provides a safe and supportive space for Latinas to connect, network, and empower each other. We’re more than just a club; we’re a family that fosters authentic connections and celebrates our shared heritage.

What sets us apart:

Authentic Connections: We prioritize building genuine friendships and lasting bonds among our members. It’s so cool to see friendships that started with meeting at one of our social events, flourish.
Empowerment: We create a space where Latinas can support and uplift each other, fostering a sense of empowerment and belonging.
Cultural Celebration: We celebrate Latina culture and traditions, promoting diversity and inclusivity.
Our journey:

Building the Latina Social Club DFW has been a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. I started with a small group of passionate Latinas and have grown into a thriving community. Along the w1ay, we’ve faced obstacles such as finding suitable venues, managing logistics, and building a strong online presence. However, our dedication to our mission and the support of our members have helped us overcome these challenges.

Lessons learned:

The power of community: The strength of our organization lies in the connections and support we provide to our members.
Perseverance and resilience: Building a successful community requires dedication and the ability to overcome obstacles.
The importance of diversity and inclusion: Celebrating our shared heritage and promoting diversity has been essential to our growth and success.

Our mission:

We want the world to know that the Latina Social Club DFW is a place where Latina women can find belonging, inspiration, and empowerment. We’re a community that celebrates our shared heritage, supports each other’s aspirations, and creates lasting connections.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a hard one because there are so MANY things to do and see in DFW. I love that there are always new restaurants/bars/music venues popping up. The music scene is amazing with so many opportunities to see a show. I am going to list my favs but there are so many I would share with friends and family who visit. There also SO many restaurants and things to do outside the city, Arlington and North Dallas are full of things to do. DFW is full of surprises.
