We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Reilly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Solutions provides accessible and affordable addiction treatment services to adult men and women. In the treatment industry, most services are unaffordable to the regular person. Prices can be astronomical. Solutions is proud to provide the same quality (if not higher quality) as other facilities at a rate that anyone, including those experiencing homelessness, can afford. We’ve been known to give an exorbitant amount of services away for free. Over the past 4 years, we’ve given away over $1 Million in services… The impact of this is easy to see… those who have lost it all can get the help that means the difference between life and death. It means putting people back to work, giving them purpose, emphasizing the beauty of helping others, reuniting families, and so on. Most people have some experience with addiction in their lives, whether it be personal experience or a loved one’s. This disease touches most lives and recovery from it is actually a simple process. Difficult in the way that any real humility is difficult, but easy in the action. Additionally, we work with the families and friends of those who are suffering because of our simplistic belief that recovery does not begin and end with the person in addiction. It affects the whole unit, which means the whole unit could benefit from recovery. We’ve put almost 20,000 people back to work, reduced substance-related recidivism, death, overdose, poisonings, and suicides, and changed the way addiction is viewed in our area. What we provide to the community is a transformed person. And the results of those transformations cannot possibly be fully quantified.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began working when I was 15 at a Popeye’s Chicken. At 16, I worked at Sonic as a carhop and continued with them until I was 19. I worked in restaurants for the next 10 years as a server, bartender, etc. I had my first foray in behavioral health when I got an administrative job at a Denton-based counseling center. I left that facility to come work for Solutions in 2019. I had been a volunteer for Solutions for quite a while but, more importantly (at least to me), my father is the Founder and Executive Director of Solutions. I was thrilled to finally get an opportunity to work with him and my mother who heads the Residential and Admissions Departments. Fortunately, the opportunity hadn’t happened sooner because I was in my own spiritual illness with codependency prior to that and had no business attempting to work with our clients. After a lot of work and a recovery program of my own, I was able to become a productive and happy coworker, and an asset to the team. I was promoted to Director in 2022 after rebuilding Solutions’ fundraising department and then absorbed the accounting department in early 2024. I now oversee all financial and public relations matters, including fundraising. It’s been such a joy to work for an organization that not only preaches living a spiritually principled life but one that encompasses those principles in the day-to-day. Recovery truly works…. it brings about a life that is beyond anything we could’ve imagined. My main focus, to the best of my ability, is to try to help other people. It’s baffling that I’ve been given the opportunity to do that, day in and day out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This question makes me giggle because I’m the epitome of an introvert, but I will say that Denton is a fun little town. We have a really cool Square with fun little shops and really good food. I would probably take them to Rooster’s so we could have the best fried pickles in the world (yep… I said it!). We have a couple different entertainments centers, like Andy B’s. There are some cool little hole-in-the-wall places to eat that are amazing and little random museum type places to go. If it was the fall, I’d probably go to the Community Market with them. There is a phenomenal used bookstore called Recycled Books and another family-owned bookstore that we LOVE called Patchouli Joe’s (who’s also a huge proponent of recovery). Nothing beats a good bookstore… Also, I’d probably take them out to my parents house to see all the animals and hang out by the pool. It’d be mostly low-key, because of who I am as a person, but it would give a lot of opportunity to hang out and catch up.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank all of those who came before us and dedicated themselves to a recovered life. These are the people who decided that they needed a new way of life and to pass it on to others through love and service. Without these people, the message would’ve never reached the ears of our Executive Director, myself, and most of our staff. We are able to help others because others were willing to help us. So, for all those who have dedicated themselves to the recovered lifestyle, we owe you a debt of gratitude. And for those who aren’t sure they’re making a difference in their programs…. you are. Keep going because amazing things are happening!
