We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Clough and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
While I had thought about going full time into real estate, the jump of point of going full time into real estate was really made for me at the end of 2020. I had been a licensed agent since 2018 but was doing it part time or “dual career”, alongside my full time job selling PropTech solutions to real estate owners/operators. My wife and I had talked about me making the switch to full time real estate in early 2021 but like most people leaving good paying jobs, the fear of going from a high paying corporate job to business owner was scary. That being said, on Dec. 1,2020 I was informed that I was being let go from my corporate sales job. Call it a sign, call it coincidence, call it what you will, I found myself staring down two options: I could go find another corporate sales job, which certainly meant putting off a full time career in real estate, or we could make the jump. I’m extremely fortunate to have a wife who supported my aspirations and we decided to give it a year. And while it was and continues to be a real estate market like we’ve never seen before, I was able to help 13 individuals/families accomplish their real estate goals in 2021 and I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to serve and help more people in 2022.

What should our readers know about your business?
My primary focus is helping clients buy/sell/invest in residential real estate in and around the DFW Metroplex. There is no doubt that Dallas/Ft Worth has some of the top real estate professionals in the country but what I think what differentiates me is the knowledge base that I bring to my profession and how much I genuinely care about my clients, well beyond the transaction. I have been fortunate to learn from real estate professionals serving different parts of the industry (realtors, property managers, lenders, private equity firms, owners, etc.) and many have them have been gracious enough to allow me to learn what to do and what not to do in each of their parts of the real estate industry. I also understand that, while this is my vocation and how I make a living, the people I’m fortunate are just that, they are people first and foremost. It doesn’t matter what the deal size, I want to win for my clients because I know the impact that can have on their lives.

I talk with my wife all the time that I’m extremely proud of the relative success up to this point but I’m well aware I will always have room to grow, both as a professional and for results. I’m sure anyone who runs their own business will tell you that success is never easy. There are always new challenges to overcome, a rollercoaster of emotions and set backs along the way. When I am faced with those things, I try to put it into perspective. “Is this problem big enough to take you out of the game for good?” I love what I do and hope to do it for a long time, so when issues arise if they aren’t big enough to completely take me out of this vocation, there is an opportunity to overcome and be better for it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love food and I love sports. So depending on the time of the year, would definitely try to get them out to a sporting event. And being in Dallas we are spoiled with so many good food spots, from food trucks to fine dining. These are some of the spots we’d hit:
1. Tacqueria La Ventana for tacos. I know they’ve got a few locations but the one on McKinney is my favorite. Love the atmosphere and their lingua tacos are my favorite in all of Dallas.
2. Adair’s for a Cheeseburger. This place is a staple of Deep Ellum, Dallas and country music in DFW. They also happen to have the most amazing, basic cheeseburgers. Pair that with a Lonestar and live music, it’s hard to beat.
3. Sushi Sake in Richardson has the best sushi in Dallas. Period.
4. Breakfast it either Shugs Bagels by SMU or Cindy’s Deli
5. Happiest Hour for a drink on the outdoor patio
6. Grab a pizza from either Mama’s in Plano or Zukos in Rowlett, with some to go crowlers from Bankhead Brewing here in Rowlett.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One person who has made a huge impact in my life is my step father, Bryan Bulloch. He and my mom have been married since I was young, so have grown up with him in my life. My biological father was also present and active in my life, however, Bryan has owned/operated his own companies in Dallas/Ft Worth for the past 30 years. Not only has he always been supportive, I’ve been unbelievably fortunate to be able to see him navigate the business world over the past 20 years and even work for him at a few of his ventures. I’ve been able to learn day to day how to operate as a business owner, but more important (at least to me) how to treat colleagues, employees, and do it with integrity. He’s also been a great example of what it means to be successful as a father, a husband, and a member of his community. I am and will be forever grateful for his support, love and guidance.
