We had the good fortune of connecting with Laneshia Fentress and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laneshia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is, being empowered to empower others. In my opinion, you can only have real success if you’re able to look forward and see those you have encountered really step into their purpose. I’m a purpose pusher! Ha! I believe that every person you encounter is an opportunity to pass along a good legacy, and as long as you have breath in your body, you have the potential to be GREAT! Why not help others become better than they were the day before you met them? These are the things I live by… my golden rule.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career is very interesting. I get an opportunity to mix my corporate leadership position and my creative artsy side together. I record most of the voice-overs for the company I work for where I am titled, Leadership Development Specialist. The cool thing is… I am a Leadership Specialist, Career Coach and Mentor outside of my corporate position. It’s like the great merger happened. One of the things that sets me apart is my ability to be my authentic self and always have a good gauge on my audience. I consider myself really great at communicating in a way that people can truly get what I am saying. The biggest lesson I have learned has been… how to overcome fear! Do not let fear cripple you. The world needs your authentic self! Also, check out a new initiative that I’ve partnered with my best friend on called, ‘Doing the D.A.S.H.” Please go and like our page to keep up with some cool stuff we’re sharing there!
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I am very privileged to work for an airline and I am what some people consider, “food bougie” lol This is something that my best friend and I have done often… we take a flight to a city, have lunch and then fly back home. One of our favorite spots is Pier 39 in San Francisco. We love the fresh lobster rolls you can find there. Another place I love to travel to is, Chicago. There is a restaurant called, Gibson’s in the Rosemont area. I eat there every time. The food and service are amazing! Can you tell I’m a foodie? 🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have had a tribe of folks my entire life support me. A lot of them are my family members. I could list each of them and how they have contributed to my success. There are three people that I want to highlight here, and that is… my mom, dad, and my Aunt Betty. I use a lot of principle things I’ve learned from my parents. As far as my career success, I have used a lot of things my Aunt Betty taught me. I have received tons of encouragement and cheers from my entire family.
