We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Carmack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The success of my brand is single handedly because of my clients. I have put little to no effort into any kind of advertising. My clients are usually always referred to me, which is incredible. I love nothing more than the beginning of an email saying ” hi Kayla, I was sent over to you by ____” that immediately makes me smile. Another large factor that plays into is my determination. I am a self-taught photographer and marketing specialist, I knew what I wanted to do and I went for it, I was not going to take no for an answer nor let the business flop.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As far as photography goes, I am most proud of the connection and relationship I build with my clients. From the first hello to the delivery of their gallery, I believe we both have made a friend within each other. I have worked with clients in sticky situations from personal to financial and I have been an ear and friend when they needed it. I take pride in my photography but more so in my ethic.
I am also the wholesale and tradeshow marketing specialist for Old Gringo Boots. This is a major step in the right direction for my corporate career. The western industry is a HUGE part of my life so every day I am able to grow our brand awareness is a day I go home a happy girl. Working in the western industry also ties into my photography life as well since I am able to do photography for our boot brand along with western lifestyle, livestock and rodeo.
I want the world to know that Kayla Carmack is dedicated to taking brands to their fullest potential and to create content that will forever leave you wanting more!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The historical Fort Worth stockyards of course. You would definitely need to stay at the Hyatt smack dab across from the coliseum or if you’d like a more rustic stay, there is always the beautiful lodge at NRS in Decatur. The best food in my opinion is H3 steakhouse or coopers famous BBQ! I recommend shopping at the amazing double d Ranchwear, Mavericks and of course Old Gringo boots. Before all of this I would make sure they are wearing the best of the best in hat brands American Hat company from Bowie Tx. We have the John Wayne museum too! There is so much to do and see in Fort Worth so I could write a whole story on it!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly that would be my husband Cody. It told him what I wanted to do and he didn’t ask a single question besides what brand do you want? I remember the day we went and got my first camera. He even took me to the express Clydesdales to try out my new gear, He has played guinea pig, assistant and even sat through my countless youtube videos, while I wanted to learn more. So my success is dedicated to the one who believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
