We had the good fortune of connecting with Chelsea Gannon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chelsea, what do you attribute your success to?
I’ve always heard that to be a successful business, you need to provide a product or service that meets a need. Having been vegan for 6 years and newly gluten-free, I realized how limited the availability is for great tasting deserts for those with dietary restrictions like mine. But the truth is, being vegan, gluten-free, or having a food allergy doesn’t mean your food should be any less tasty than others. When people think desserts, they think soft cakes and chewy cookies. When people think dairy-free and gluten-free, they think odd textures and bland food. But We are here to prove that desserts with no dairy, egg, or gluten can taste good! Really good in fact! The success behind our brand is that we provide great tasting and great textured baked goods that everyone can enjoy, dietary restrictions or not. I know firsthand how hard it can be to find food options that fit into a lifestyle with dietary restrictions. For this reason, watching excited parents of a child with allergies or adults who don’t drink dairy realize they can eat and enjoy our baked goods always brings a smile to my face.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Something that I am very proud of with my business is that we are okay with standing out! Veganism and dietary restrictions, whether they be due to allergies or personal choice, can come with a negative connotation. Some people see the words Vegan, Dairy Free, Gluten Free, etc., and turn the other way. This has definitely been a challenge for our business that we have to overcome daily. Growing our education in baking and dietary restrictions, and working hard to create the most tasty treats around has really assisted us in being able to overcome this and turn even the most surprising customers into fans!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in DFW my entire life, I have been all over the metroplex! Food and the outdoors always make me happy, so our trip would probably revolve around where we are going to eat and what places are best to soak up some sun.

Some of my favorite restaurants in DFW that cater to vegan and gluten-free eating are Seven Mile Café, or The Depot for breakfast, Flowerchild or True Food Kitchen for lunch and Belse Dallas or Blue Sushi for dinner. I love going to farmers markets, so making a stop at any of the great local markets would be a must and spending time exploring downtown Dallas would definitely be an afternoon!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family! They have been along for the ride with me on my baking journey and have been there to taste-test everything I have come up with. They bring me constant encouragement and love that keeps me baking!
