Artistic and creative careers are among the most rewarding, but they also come with unique challenges.  We asked some of the city’s best creatives to tell us why they choose to  pursue a creative career.

Proenka Roque | Artist

From a very young age I was always drawn by creativity. Was fortunate enough to have an amazing support from both my parents. They would encourage my interest anyway they could. I aspired to be like my mom some day. She was an Arts and Crafts instructor back in our home town of Mexico. Everything she did peaked my interest. From painting to crafting the most beautiful rosaries that would take us days to create. After her pacing when I was 14. I choose to indulgde/devote myself in the only other thing that brought me happiness. Art has been the most consistent thing through out my life and it’s extremely rewarding to be able to do it full time. I’ve learnt to take chances and many risks Art is what I know, what I am passionate about and what I love dearly. Read more>>

I’ve always found creativity as a means to express but, never knew what outlet would be best for me until I started giving more into my passion of photography and instagram content creation. I still have alot to create and work towards because balancing work and pushing content out is a tad bit of a hassle. Honestly, there was this one person I saw on Instagram who visually kinda shook me with their content and it became more about being inspired to do the same.
