We had the good fortune of connecting with Shumaila Kidwai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shumaila, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always found creativity as a means to express but, never knew what outlet would be best for me until I started giving more into my passion of photography and Instagram content creation. I still have a lot to create and work towards because balancing work and pushing content out is a tad bit of a hassle. Honestly, there was this one person I saw on Instagram who visually kinda shook me with their content and it became more about being inspired to do the same. They’re quite successful in what they do but, I’m not even close to half way there yet!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Honestly, I’m not where I’m supposed to be career wise but, working towards it. I work as a customer service representative and plan on growing within the company when the opportunity arises. I’ve always been a bit confused with my career because, I never took it seriously or with a serious eye because, the jobs I wanted kept giving me rejections (not sure why?) so, my moral kinda got down. I took the conventional route and followed what was handed to me and practiced gratitude with it and went with the flow of life. I hope to land the career goals that I see myself in but, I for sure know that I may have to extend my mind beyond Dallas to pursue them. As far as my creativity goes, I’m more of an aesthetics photographer and as of now, my focus is natural light photography. Once I perfect it- to the point of finessing it people will surely see what I have to offer! Just keep up and put up with me for the time being.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooo a week long trip! Let’s see! Well if my best friend was visiting Dallas- I’d take them to lower Greenville and treat them to my favorite restaurant/bar..” hg supply and co” for dinner. Then we’d go out to the “statler” the next day for a dip in the pool with some downtown lights shining on us. Later on, we’d head to Deep Ellum to grab some popsicles from “picole pops” and scooty around the area and then eat at “vidorra” and eventually end up at “chocolate secrets” At some point of the trip I do see myself taking my best friend to “legacy west” to show them some shops that I love but, also “legacy hall”. I’m lucky enough to know enough people in Dallas but, because of corona and me being a germaphobe, I’m kinda stuck at home-doing uber eats haha.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a bunch of people who inspire me on the go including influencers that follow me like “Fabfabela” her content wows me every day since it’s so aesthetic and then “thebasicbloggerbitch” whose the epitome of laugh central and then there’s “yourbrandmaven” she’s a music blogger whose so so gorgeous. At first I was pursuing the music blogger route and now I’m a little on the “Let’s see where my mood takes me” but, all of these bloggers play a huge role in inspiring me and keeping the drive going!
