We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaylin Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaylin, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Global lifestyle apparel was to go big and be relatable to everybody. When you think about the word Global you think big you think worldwide honestly who doesn’t want to go Global for their hard work they put in daily and get honorably noticed for it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art consists of fashion design and creating music, what sets me apart from others is my authenticity in both lanes everything’s original and comes from naturally being me, and having confidence and faith in my craft. I’m most proud of believing in myself enough to present my art to the world without letting doubt or fear stop me. Honestly I think that’s the exact reason why I’m where I am professionally, because I’m not afraid to take the risk especially with my art.
Unfortunately it’s not easy at all but I try to make it look easy through God mainly, it’s not a skill or tactic I use to get through hard times just believing in God and in what I’m doing. Along my journey I’ve learned to go for what it is you want, strategically though, patience is real important, always stay consistent and believe in your self no matter what slow motion is better than no motion. I just want the world to know that both of my brands are apart of my story and the life I live, M.O.B which stands for My Only Brothers is a brand that represents a brotherhood of young men turned businessmen with one mission to inspire the youth, protect our family, and produce generational wealth. GLA, last but not least stands for Global Lifestyle Apparel and this brand represents Going Big and Doing Great Things in Your Everyday Lifestyle, anything you involve yourself with you want to be great and be honorably noticed for it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im most familiar with Baton Rouge when it comes to eating and I can be real simple with food choices, but I would definitely take my guests to aunt Irene sea food in south Dallas, they have the best sea food in the city closest thing to Louisiana sea food in Dallas. I would then take them sightseeing around the down town area maybe go to the museum or the zoo. For the nightlife I’m not a fan of the club but I’m familiar with the deep Ellum scene on weekends and a few bars along the way. Dallas is a big city and I love to show off the Galleria when visitors come as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I want to give a shoutout to God, he the reason for this all. And shout out my family & all loved ones.
