We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay “Fuego” Pittman II and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay “Fuego”, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk is all about chances! The great Hall of Fame hockey player Wayne Gretzky once quoted “You Miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. Sometimes playing it safe is not where God wants us to be! Taking risks in my life has been the best lessons in my life, because I have to trust God and myself! You’ll never know what you’re really made of until you’re in a position that makes you uncomfortable and you have to figure it out! I believe that’s what life is all about, trusting and believing in yourself even when times get rough! Taking risk will allow you to gain knowledge of who you are! Taking risk allows you to walk by your faith and not by your sight.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Yes I am private chef by trade but overall I’m an artist! I don’t just cook but I create! My focus when I create my dishes for my clients is not for them to just taste great food, but I want them to experience great food! A great chef can not only cook great food, but a great chef can also tell a great story behind what they’re cooking as well!

I was a network engineer with a degree in Computer Engineering and Electronics for 12 years before I started in the culinary world! It wasn’t easy being able to go from one who clocks in to an organization, do a job, clock out and go home for a living to someone who has to make their own living with no paycheck. Those are just the basic obstacles of becoming an entrepreneur. I still had to balance being a father away from my kids which was and still is the hardest obstacle to balance.

Even those these obstacles are hard doesn’t mean that goal on the other side can’t be attained. I’m proud of who I’ve become and the successes I’ve seen Synful Pleasures reach. I’m proud to show my children that with hard work, consistency, sacrifice, and a little mustard seed of faith that you can do anything in this world!

I want the world to know that when you allow Synful Pleasures to cater or host a private dinner at your next event, that you will not only just have great food, but you will have an experience of lifetime!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well anyone that knows me know that a hang outs or kickbacks isn’t a hangout unless good food, music, and vibes are involved! One of my favorites if not the best place for seafood in Oklahoma City for me is Off the Hook Seafood & More! I’m from Arkansas and we love our seafood! Every time I visit this establishment the owner, Chef Slawta makes me feel at home all the time! Anytime I’ve had visitors to come in town this is my number one place! My second place would be the all new LA Finest OKC! This place is a one stop shop for any event! With an on-site dispensary, art gallery, outdoor lounge, and kitchen hitting with flava there would be no other place to be! Next would be Club One 15! The music, environment, drinks, vibes and culture is what makes this place great!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost shoutout to my Father, the Creator, because all things I do are through Him. Secondly I wanna give a shout out to my backbone supporters my brother DJ Navi for making this possible! Shoutout to my manager/best friend Sammie D for always going hard for me, and believing in me. Shout out to my kids Jasmine, Jamiah, Jasper III, and Elijah because I simply do this for them! Thank you to my family and friends who’s supported me from social media to my clients. Last but not least thank you to the strong Queen, Erica Love, who refuses to let me give up on myself and has my back no matter what!
