We had the good fortune of connecting with Drika Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Drika, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always been business oriented. My degree is in business management so I’ve always desired to own my own business, I just wasn’t sure what type of business. Fast forward to 2018, I began to get more serious about my faith and had a growing desire to want to play a meaningful role in others’ lives. I started trying to figure out how to go about doing so by tossing around idea after idea but it wasn’t until August 2020 (during a global pandemic) that God slowed me down, spoke to me and gave me a clear vision for my business. He wanted me to start a faith based brand that would remind individuals of their value and self-worth that He has given all of us through fashion. That’s when BeWorthy was birthed.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being confident that I am walking in my purpose is what sets me apart from others. People tend to struggle with determining if they are truly walking in their purpose and I’m fortunate to know that I am. I know that there is an even bigger goal that God wants me to achieve through this brand so I’m excited and patiently waiting for His direction.

Lots of prayer got me to where I am today. It wasn’t easy but it wasn’t hard either. It takes a great deal of patience, time, trial and error to run a business but I’ve been enjoying the process.

Challenges will always exist. If you’re a new business owner or a vet business owner there will always be challenges. I believe going through challenges allow you to grow and develop. We must stay focused and continuously remind ourselves of our “why”.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oooo oh how I love the word itinerary lol my friends joke about me all the time for always trying to put together an itinerary for the smallest of things. I’m a planner so I can’t help it.

I’m not sure if all the places are still open since covid but this “pre covid” itinerary that will go a little like this:

Monday: Relaxation
Tuesday: Its #tacotuesday so we’re going to hit up TNT (Tacos and Tequila) downtown for a nice rooftop vibe.
Wednesday: We’re checking out Ellen’s downtown for breakfast, take a stroll through the Dallas Aquarium then head over to the Farmers Market to grab lunch from Caribbean Cabana, later that night we’re taking a drive to Addison to hit up Sidecar Social to hangout the rest of the night
Thursday: We’re going to Girlfriends Night at Daqs All Folks (a luxury daiquiri lounge) in Plano. While in Plano we’ll do some shopping at The Shops at Legacy
Friday: We’re doing lunch at Perry’s downtown for the pork chop lunch special, following that we’re getting manis & pedis in Uptown. Later that night we will dine at Kitchen + Kocktails downtown
Saturday: We’re getting up early to spend the day at Spa Castle in Carrollton. That evening we have reservations at Pangea in Garland and I’m ordering the shrimp & grits. They are life changing lol
Sunday: Sunday Funday! We’re going to my church (One Community Church), then hitting up brunch at LoLos Chicken & Waffles in Southlake, then we’re headed to Neo Soul Sundays at Lava Cantina in The Colony to enjoy some live music

I’m excited about those plans. Got me ready to go outside haha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my family & friends. It’s sounds cliche but they are truly my support system. They keep me rolling. I’d definitely like to shoutout to my “Side Hustle Saturday” group that a friend of mine created a couple years ago to help keep us motivated and focused on our goals. It was a great help and we continuously help each other to this day.
