Meet Keondra Mallard | Founder & CEO, Sports Performance Strategist, Athlete Development Executive

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keondra Mallard and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keondra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’ve learned that risk is often the price of growth. If you want uncommon results, you usually have to be willing to make uncommon decisions. I don’t look at risk as being reckless, I look at it as having the courage to move forward when there are no guarantees.
In my life and career, taking risks has played a major role. Building The Mallard Speed Academy required betting on myself, my vision, and my ability to create something meaningful from the ground up. There were moments when security would have been easier than uncertainty, but I knew comfort rarely creates impact.
Risk has shown up in many forms starting a business, trusting my instincts, stepping into leadership, investing in growth, and choosing to be authentically myself in spaces that don’t always reward boldness. Every major opportunity I’ve had came from a moment where I decided faith was stronger than fear.
I also believe smart risk matters. It’s important to prepare, study, and build strategy but at some point, you still have to jump. You can’t overthink your way into greatness.
The biggest lesson risk has taught me is that even when things don’t go perfectly, you still gain something valuable: experience, resilience, clarity, and confidence. In that sense, the greatest risk is often not taking one at all.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m the founder and CEO of The Mallard Speed Academy, a performance company built around one core belief: speed changes everything. We specialize in helping athletes move better, become more explosive, build confidence, and unlock levels of performance they didn’t know were possible. While many people think speed is just about running fast, we see it as movement efficiency, mindset, discipline, and learning how to separate yourself in competition and in life.
What sets us apart is that we don’t believe in cookie-cutter training. Every athlete is different, so we focus on assessments, movement patterns, strengths, weaknesses, and building a personalized path for development. We also pride ourselves on creating an elite experience. We want every athlete and family to feel professionalism, energy, care, and excellence the moment they walk in. Performance matters, but people matter just as much.
What I’m most proud of is the impact. Watching athletes earn scholarships, gain confidence, recover belief in themselves, and take the next step in their journey means everything to me. We’ve had the privilege of working with athletes across multiple sports and levels, and seeing those results never gets old.
Getting here business-wise definitely was not easy. Entrepreneurship can look glamorous from the outside, but behind the scenes it requires sacrifice, pressure, uncertainty, and constant problem-solving. There were seasons of wearing every hat coach, marketer, salesperson, operator, visionary all at once. There were moments of doubt, setbacks, and learning lessons in real time. I overcame those challenges by staying committed to the vision, continuing to improve, and refusing to let temporary obstacles define long-term outcomes.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that talent alone isn’t enough you need consistency, relationships, adaptability, and the courage to evolve. I’ve also learned that setbacks are often preparation in disguise. Some of the hardest moments taught me the most valuable lessons.
What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that this is bigger than sports. Yes, we train athletes but we’re also helping build leaders, confidence, habits, resilience, and belief. My story is one of taking risks, trusting purpose, and creating something meaningful from the ground up. The brand represents excellence, innovation, and the idea that no matter where you start, you can build something special if you stay committed.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my best friends was visiting Dallas for a week and I wanted to show them an unforgettable time, I’d make sure they experienced the city the right way great food, high energy, luxury, culture, and the true spirit of Dallas.
First, I’d have them stay downtown at Omni Dallas Hotel. It’s the perfect home base beautiful property, great service, and right in the center of the city.
For food, Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley is a must. Hands down one of my favorite spots in the city. The food, atmosphere, and energy always deliver. Another great stop would be Kanvas Sports + Social where you can enjoy quality food, catch a game, and meet some really cool people.
For nightlife, VIVO Dallas is where you go if you want a true show. Great music, strong vibes, beautiful atmosphere, and top-tier hospitality. It’s one of those places that feels like an experience, not just a night out.
For daytime activities, I’d definitely get tickets to the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. It’s one of the best places in the city to walk, relax, and enjoy nature. Beautiful scenery and a great reset from the fast pace.
If we wanted something active, we’d hit the Katy Trail early in the morning. There’s nothing better than a walk or jog there with good conversation and fresh air. It gives you a real feel for Dallas lifestyle and community.
And of course, no Dallas trip is complete without going to a Dallas Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium. Whether you love football or not, the atmosphere is incredible. It’s America’s Team, and game day is always a major event.
Dallas has a unique mix of luxury, culture, ambition, sports, and nightlife. It’s a city where you can have brunch, build business, hit a trail, enjoy elite dining, and end the night with unforgettable energy all in the same day.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely. No meaningful success happens alone, and I’m a big believer that every person who reaches something great is standing on the shoulders of people who poured into them along the way.
First, I would dedicate my shoutout to my family. Their belief, sacrifices, and support gave me the foundation to dream bigger, stay resilient, and keep going during seasons that required faith and discipline. Family is often the first team you ever have, and I never take that for granted.
I’d also recognize the coaches, mentors, and leaders who challenged me to grow. Some taught through encouragement, others taught through accountability, but all helped shape my mindset. As an athlete and now as a founder of The Mallard Speed Academy, those lessons in discipline, preparation, and consistency still guide me daily.
I want to give credit to the athletes and families who trust our vision. Every athlete who walks through our doors pushes us to continue innovating, leading, and creating an elite experience. Their trust is something I value deeply.
I’d also shout out entrepreneurs and creators who build from nothing. Seeing others take risks, create opportunities, and stay committed through adversity has inspired me more than they probably know.
Lastly, I’d give recognition to God for giving me strength, perspective, and the ability to keep moving with purpose. There have been many moments where faith carried me farther than logic ever could.
