We had the good fortune of connecting with De’Jion Guidry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi De’Jion, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is seeing happiness unfold — in myself and in others. There’s something powerful about knowing you can shift someone’s day for the better. Joy is contagious, and I try to live, laugh, and love in a way that helps others feel that same authentic happiness. That’s what I live for.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To get to where I am today, I simply refused to give up. That’s a universal truth for all of us chasing a dream — you cannot give up on yourself.

The journey wasn’t easy. There were many ups and downs, but with God, I persevered. Prayer and honest conversations with Him carried me through some of my toughest moments. Through those challenges, I learned the importance of not being too hard on myself. Grace also keeps us afloat, and it’s something we should give ourselves often. Push yourself, absolutely — but no matter the outcome, stay humble and remember to extend grace to your own growth.

I’ve also learned the value of confidence and authenticity. You don’t have to be the best — you just have to be you. When you show up as your true self and give your all, life has a way of aligning and working itself out.

That’s what Giddy D Photography represents. We empower and inspire people not to give up on themselves. We highlight strength, resilience, and the beauty in every individual. Our mission is to remind people that they can rise, overcome, and transcend.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to spend a week with me in Dallas, the first stop would be White Rock Lake. It’s absolutely gorgeous and always feels like an adventure waiting to happen. We’d walk the trails, explore the nature preserves, and eat by the Garza Dam while watching the sails drift by and ducks glide across the water. And if they’re up for it, we might even try the paddle boats — something I still haven’t done yet, but it’s on my list.

From there, we’d dive into the food scene because I’m definitely a foodie. One of my favorite quick spots is Italia Express in Oak Lawn — their pizza has the perfect crunch. I’d also take them to The Exchange Food Hall so we could sample different foods and just go to town trying whatever catches our eye. I love the idea of picking random places and letting the city surprise us.

Another must-visit is the Bishop Arts District, one of my personal favorites. It has such a cozy, inviting vibe — small details, local culture, and a creativity you can feel as you walk around.

Overall, the week would be about exploring Dallas spontaneously — discovering good food, good views, and good energy, while experiencing everything the city has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to three people who shaped my entire journey: God, my mother, and my grandmother.

God gave me life and direction. My mother showed up for me in every way and taught me how to move with purpose. And my grandmother kept me rooted — reminding me of my foundation, my history, and the strength that runs in our family. Their support, love, and prayers are the backbone of who I am today.
