We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My family and I had just moved from Houston, Texas due to a career change that my husband accepted. Two weeks after the move, I found out I was pregnant with our third baby. I became very desperate to stay home, but I also wanted to help contribute financially to our growing family. Without any planning I decided to open my home cottage bakery. In true planning fashion, the same week, I also signed up to join a farmers’ market. I had no former knowledge, recipes, or even a legitimate rolling pin, but I wasn’t going to let anything stop my journey!
I was overwhelmingly surprised and nervous when I got accepted into Good Local Markets. After that very first market I was hooked. Not only did I sell out of the products that I brought but the small business comradery shared amongst every vendor spoke volumes I knew it would be difficult but knew baking was my passion. It is so apparent to me now that God placed this business on my heart and his grace has been abundant for Mud Puddle Co.
What should our readers know about your business?
Mud Puddle Co. is a Christ centered bakery. We pride ourselves on using fresh scratch made ingredients in all our confections. We are so excited about taking the next steps to go commercial to reach a much wider audience with not only the best desserts but also the word of God!
Mud Puddle Co. has been the hardest and most smooth processes that I have ever been a part of! I didn’t always have the answer, or even an idea, but I always allowed grace for myself. I also never forgot to leave room for Christ. He has always made a way when I saw none.
Some of the lessons learned through this process are to always think forward. Don’t worry or place stress on the now. Your tomorrow self needs you and whatever happened today won’t be so big. Don’t ever stop learning! Take the class, read the book, join the event. That’s how you grow. Be a good and Honest person. If it doesn’t feel right God knows more than you do.
I want the world to know that GOD only delivers us from the darkness and gives us everlasting life. Mud Puddle Co strives to relay the message of what a relationship with Jesus means and the Sweetness it brings to life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am today without God! I went into this business blind, I didn’t do prior research or even have a penny to place towards a “small business”. I was pregnant, scared, and honestly questioned Him many times. We have been in business 4 years now and He has shown up in so many ways. Through connections, events, sales, and growth I know I was never alone. He has blessed me beyond measure.
My husband is my biggest supporter and “Best Employee”. All laughs on that last part. He shows up when I feel like it’s all falling apart. This man believes in me more than I ever will and I am convinced he has a direct line with God.
Good Local Markets – My Home away from home, My start, My family! This business is who it is today because of my customers that are more like family. My market managers gave me a voice in this competitive business and I will forever be grateful!
