We had the good fortune of connecting with Zachary Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zachary, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Always knowing my story will reach someone that needs a little push and spreading positive energy will help them understand that the situation they’re in now will change in an amazing way. You just have to trust the process!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

“My career and life have been filled with both happy and sad moments, but overall, I love the path I’ve been given and I’m so happy to be where I’m at in life. I’m most proud of myself for working hard to get to where I am, especially since I didn’t go to college and instead graduated from Plano Senior High School. Building my business through self-learning makes it even more special. I wasn’t the best student when it came to traditional learning, so it took me some time to find what really helped me outside of school. But once I did, I flourished more than I thought possible (ADHD is what it was). I wish I could go back and tell my younger self to embrace the journey and not rush, because I would eventually get there. Smile a little more and make mistakes, because that’s the only way you truly grow.”

Last but not least, I really want the world to know, “I was here, I lived, I loved” – Beyoncé. I want people to know that it doesn’t matter what city, state, or country you come from, your background, or the trauma you may have endured. What matters is that you can and will make something amazing out of what you create, big or small. You are someone who wants to “be here, to live, and to be loved.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Man, Dallas really does have so many great places to go and see! I totally agree with you about Urban Crust in Downtown Plano. It’s an amazing spot with delicious handcrafted pizza, a nice ambiance, and great drinks and cocktails. And Vidorra in Addison, Texas sounds fantastic too! Their amazing chicken flautas and craft cocktails must be a real treat. It’s awesome to hear that the staff and ambiance are amazing as well, giving off that moody Mexico night feel.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So, I would love to give a shoutout to my mom and dad. I know it’s cheesy, but they have really been there to support me on this crazy journey. My really good photography friend, Darren Roberts, has also been on this wild ride with me. I can’t thank him enough for pulling me out of some dark times and showing me the gifts I have. And a big thank you to Josh Anthony, who gave me the time and space to showcase my talent in ways I didn’t even see yet. There are so many people who have shined their light on my journey, and I would be here all day if I listed them all. So, thank you to everyone!
