We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruby Bhandari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruby, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to bring the traditional Indian designs and embroideries to a western audience and create a fusion Indo-western range of high-end dresses.

I am happy to share that 30 years later, our vision is still the same – now we also work with some of the most reputable Indian designers to showcase their creations.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Our story is very unique, as it was a vision of bringing centuries-old traditional Indian hand-work embroideries to a new audience. The journey was not easy, given the distance and time zone differences, but it has been very fulfilling.

We have happy customers in over 30 States, and sometimes over three generations of a family are wearing our designs.

Each of our pieces is like wearable art – and we take pains to keep the design of every custom garment unique.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas has excellent spots to eat, and has a vibrant shopping and night-life scene. Some hot-spots I like are Legacy West in Plano, Uptown Dallas, Bishop Arts district, as well as the night-life in downtown Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to three of my very close friends who have helped and encouraged me throughout my journey. They are there to give me advice and encouragement when I need it most.

They are Monica Sharma, Menka Thakur and Jingle Thakkar.
