We had the good fortune of connecting with QuaNeisha Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi QuaNeisha, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Yes! “Never Give Up” is my favorite. It’s ok to take breaks or rejuvenate yourself but giving up does not fit the scenario! Even when situations seem impossible, just know anything is possible… and that is all the more reason to never give up! Not only do I live by the never give up quote, but I also come out saying this to others to uplift them; especially when someone might need to hear it. An interesting thing about this quote is when it seems like I truly need some sort of inspiration or motivation, “never give up” will show up. Whether it’s on something at a store like a journal, calendar, or something like this. I might here it randomly or see it on a big sign in public. It’s interesting cause it shows up at the perfect moments too. I remember a moment when I was dealing with a tough situation and at this time I actually forgot about the quote. There was a moment I was at a store and seen a big poster with never give up on it. All I could do is smile, first cause it was so touching, and secondly it reminded me when I used sign never give up with all of my signatures in high school! Had no idea why I even did it, but hopefully it helped whoever saw the signature and needed it. But it was a great feeling to see the quote and be reminded of a reason to stay strong.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Nail Artist that runs It’sNails2U! One thing that sets me apart is my authenticity. I’m not afraid to put something different out or set another tone. By creating a nail design that no one has seen, or a service that individuals can really enjoy or appreciate. The main goal is to have everyone that is serviced, feels 10 times better than they did before being serviced. So if I have to create something to create a great experience, I will. Plus have been told my work is inspiring enough for people to join the industry (definitely not being cocky or bragging). I’m proud that I continue to keep going and look forward to more success in the future. It’s a great feeling to see others happy and really feeling good about themselves.
Now when it comes to doing nails, it started for me young. While growing up people always begged me to do their nails or feet. For a hot minute I turned people down except family, but as years passed I was like “ok people isn’t just constantly asking me to do their nails and feet for nothing”. Then one day it dawned on me, create a nail empire! I finally enrolled in school, received my nail license, and created a business plan to go by. Now not everything went as planned. But I dealt with whatever needed to be dealt with accordingly by dialing things back a bit, researching, and fixing what needed to be readjusted piece by piece. This nail empire is not fully built just yet, but definitely in the direction! Cool fact is when I signed up in nail school, an instructor asked me if I was ready to build a nail empire and I never told him about that! All I could do is smile and reply with a yes!
Now when it comes to the process of creating this empire, it has definitely been a journey. I will say you can’t be a soft cookie for sure! Some things that aided with overcoming challenges is not over thinking, more research, asking questions, networking, and getting help from people/ organizations of the nail industry has helped a lot. Talk about having multiple aha moments, it was definitely in the equation!
Lessons I have learned is not everyone sees your vision and that’s ok, it’s not for everyone to see. Plus not every client is for you vice versa and that’s ok too. Not to mention, when it comes to making a business decision, realize decision making will keep coming! Whether having to choose a set for a client or choosing not to deal with an aspect of the online feature cause you know it doesn’t suit with what everything your services entails. But I mainly focus on the bigger picture which is making impact, and this is by making individuals feel amazing, inspired, and great about themselves! It’s a nail world!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start by taking them to any place that sits high at night to see the city lights and drive around it for sightseeing on our way to any small restaurant in Dallas like the Vegan Food House. This restaurant has many food and drink options, (everything vegan) space to hang in or outside. Not to mention all of the near by attractions to hang out or shop at. If it was a week to spend, there would definitely be game night’s, we’d go out for snow cones, have a cookout, or go somewhere to dance. A place that could have some one in there for hours is Pinstack! It has tons of arcade games, rock climbing, bumper cars, lazer tag, bowling, they have a restaurant area, and then some. This is a perfect setup to be some where for hours, I pretty much my do everything there. Especially the games, my favorite is bumper cars and bowling! So Pinstack is another place I’d bring someone to because there’s multiple things to get fun out of and plus there’s food and drinks so you don’t have to worry about leaving to eat. I know this next place is pretty much in a lot of areas but if my friend needs to get personal things during the week they are staying, it’d definitely be Target. I don’t know what it is about Target but it’s so much more fun than any other store. Not sure if it’s the great customer service or the way the stores are put together but Target is the go to store! Plus there’s a wide range of items to shop for whether it’s personal needs, electronics, gifts for others, clothes, food, books, workout equipment, and lots of other things! Lastly I would take them somewhere I’ve never been or seen! I’m like them wanting to see something they’ve never seen in the area before but even something I’ve never seen as well, so we could both have that newness feeling when discovering a place! It could be anything, I recently discovered a race trac for cars that’s less than 20 minutes a away from me and had no clue it was there. Or trying out a new Hawaiian restaurant I discovered named Wow wow lemonade stand in Dallas that has fresh grown ingredients for salads, smoothie bowls, they have sandwiches, wraps, of course lemonade that’s hand made, plus the dine in is so unique! They have a few chairs made out of tennis balls and wood! This is mainly why I would definitely take my friend neither one of us has visited cause you don’t know what to expect. I could say hopefully my friend comes prepared to do a lot for a week, because I would have a bit to show them!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off thankful to the one above for everything. My school (United beauty College) they keep it honest with you about your work and make sure you reach your goals. Have to mention many nail professionals like Tammy Taylor, Young Nails, Official Nails by Sina, Lovely Mimi, Tah beauty, Zulay’s Nails, d.artistrynailz, 2 Guys, and Nails Plus nail supply store. My Family support like no other. My mother RaShon always supports by spreading the word about It’sNails2U! She even shows my work to tons of individuals! Plus educates me from time to time about nail technology. My dad James gives great advice on the business aspect. Literally all my siblings show support by getting a service done, keeping up with the YouTube channel or spreading the word. My nieces love telling others about It’sNails2U! they help a lot with setting up materials, recording, or getting services! Everyone mentioned helps in ways that really stand out and creates a spark for me to keep going.
