Meet Gabriel Avila | Producer / DJ

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Avila and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a pretty artistic & creative person, so I’ve always kind of known that I wanted to pursue SOME kind of art form, with music being my main interest. I started producing music mainly because I wanted to create music that would give other listeners the same escape that my favorite tunes / artists give me, you know? Fun fact though, my main dream was to start / be in a deathcore band haha.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At the moment, I’d say my branding is what mainly sets me apart from others and I also think that’s a big part in what’s helped me grow so quickly. On top of my unique branding, I guess I’m just really great with networking and building organic relationships with people, you know? so I definitely use that skill set to help me grow professionally.
Musically, I’m not exactly where I want to be yet, but I’m working hard towards refining my sound and learning as much as I can, as quickly as I can.
I have a few collabs locked in / almost completed and will definitely be releasing some new music very soon, so definitely keep your eyes peeled for that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man, if my buddies are in town, we are 3000% getting some food from @chef_tastebudz on Instagram. He makes the most incredible birria tacos in the city, I’m HOOKED. Definitely check out his page, all of his food looks and tastes so amazing.

As far as hanging out, I’m honestly kinda boring in that department, so we’d probably just end up getting drinks around Dallas or on 7th St in Fort Worth, haha. Maybe some go karts?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I’d like to recognize all my friends & family that have supported my projects & I since day one, always showing constant love to me and believing I could accomplish all the goals I set, they should know who they all are, but I appreciate them so much for any bit of support I’ve ever gotten from them.

I think some of my local promo groups, such as Riddim Squad, Full Grind Entertainment, NYT Club, GRiMEFEST, etc, definitely deserve a shoutout for believing in me enough to book me for their events and helping me gain traction both online & in the underground scene.

Huge shoutout to Grocery Boiz and everyone involved over in that group for asking me to join what they have going on, it was actually kinda crazy how it went from me playing Call of Duty during quarantine with all these producers I looked up to being in a group with them and eventually befriending most of them. It’s so strange to me how stuff like that comes full circle, you know?

Last I’d love to shoutout everyone that supports and / or is apart of Kaiju Pit. I’ve built such a strong, supportive, like-minded community with Kaiju Pit and I’ve learned so much from those involved, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without that lot.
