We had the good fortune of connecting with Treva Sneed and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Treva, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Love On Purpose originally started with me loving a man and learning to love myself. In the midst of loving God, I found myself and began to really love on me and I asked God to show me how to love people like He loves, with purpose and on purpose. Back in April 2019, God woke me up out of my sleep, giving me all kind of ideas for Love On Purpose. The information was coming so fast, I had to write things down. Candles were on top of the list and they are made from the heart. With God leading the way, the candles are labeled with positive messages and Bible Scriptures, along with the scents being re-named after love songs. What a combination right..lol..
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I honestly believe what sets Love On Purpose apart is because the candles are crafted out of pure love. As it states in 1st Corinthians 16:14, “Let ALL that you do be done with love”. This the motto Love On Purpose. It’s loving God, Yourself and People. Love is what it’s all about and Love is what we represent and Love is what set us apart from many business. No, this journey has not been easy because you have to love through the people that don’t won’t to see your business grow especially when they critique everything you do. No, Love On Purpose is not a Bath & Body Works but it’s personally crafted with a touch on genuine love and care. During this process, I’ve learned that it’s okay to mess up, to go back & try it again and not to be too hard on yourself because there is only One who is the Master of Perfection. As the song says, “Dust yourself off and try again and again and again”, as many times as you need to. Considering that Love On Purpose officially launched during COVID19, when people have lost their jobs, the economy is struggle and so much is going on in the world, Love On Purpose has done really well and for that I’m more than proud, I’m beyond Grateful.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Many people who knows me, know that my favorite place to take anyone is OJEDAS. There food is grrreat and the drinks (Meltdown) are AWESOME. But hopefully soon “The Spot” owned by my SWOD, Aunna Douglas, will be opened and that would “The Spot” to go. And again those who know me, knows that I will take them to be my quest at the AWESOME Greater Missionary Baptist Church (Pastor Danny Cox – “We are the little church on the corner, where EVERYBODY is SOMEBODY”). I’ve very chill and love a great live band so we can go anywhere Don Diego Jazz Band is playing or visit a nice poetry (snapping fingers) spot.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and far most, giving ALL the Glory to God for giving me His Vision; my family for loving and supporting (even purchasing without asking for a discount..lol) me and making sure that I rest; and to my SWODs for making sure that the quality of the Love On Purpose Candles are always scented to perfection. Thank you for being my testers and candle namers (lol) . To my Pastor Danny Cox, the Greater Memorial Missionary Baptist Church Family and the Davis Family for being my greatest supporters and to my High School Alumni, Lincoln Humanities/Communications Magnet High School, for showing so much love and support. Thank you Mr. Davis for helping me with the vision of Love On Purpose and constantly providing new ideas. Thank you Robin Landrum and Roderick Smith for helping me with my website and constantly providing me with different business outlooks. And I would’ve still been afraid to try making my first set of candles if it wasn’t for my niece Tenasha Davis (Thank you Suga). I am truly Grateful!
