We had the good fortune of connecting with VyShawn King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi VyShawn, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Im from a town called Paris, Texas. A very small town! So with that being said, my upbringing was hard. Mentally atleast. Every small town has something what I call “small town syndrome”. It is basically a group of people in those communities that mind hasn’t quite expanded outside of their area. It is easy to have and not even realize! So, it was very much challenging coming up having to have the complete opposite mindset of literally everyone you run across.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always loved to make music, I’ve been doing it since I was about 9 years old. I feel like what makes me different would be my sound and versatility. I can make a hit to any beat you hand me! I feel it’s an God given gift honestly. Also, nothings easy if your going for top status! I’ve had an buzz for 3 years going on 4 now. But, it took 6-7 years for that to even happen! So I’ve realized it’s an time thing and as time comes I’ll receive all the blessings coming to me.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Let me say, first it’d have to be Daqs Crazy & Wings! Their wings are phenomenal! Then we’d probably head over to the studio or somewhere! It’s honestly not a lot to do in my city honestly. I’m thinking about changing that soon!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off I’ve got to shoutout my guy Jarvis from No Days Off ENT. Without him I wouldn’t be in the position I am today. Same thing with my guy Mikel(Big A). R.I.P to my guy. He molded me into the artist I am today, helped me find my sound. And taught me how to stay safe from all the negative things in the industry! Can’t forget my mother also, who helped me chase my dream at the age of 13-14-15 paying for my studio sessions and helping me run across the right people to help further my career.
