Meet Toy Laster | Founder & CEO of DFW Pole Dance Parties

We had the good fortune of connecting with Toy Laster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Toy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to create a space where women could create unique memories and step outside the traditional celebrations like dinner and going to a club. After being in the fitness world, I realized pole dancing had the perfect combination of fitness, creativity, and celebration. I saw an opportunity to bring women together for unforgettable experiences, especially for milestones like birthdays and bachelorette parties.
DFW Pole Dance Parties was born out of that idea to give people a chance to step out of their comfort zones, celebrate their bodies, and create lasting memories with their friends. It’s not just about the pole. It’s about the experience, the confidence boost, and the sisterhood that happens at our pole dancing parties. Plus, after winning “Best Bachelorette Spot in Dallas,” I knew I was on the right track.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My Work and What Sets Me Apart:
DFW Pole Dance Parties is all about creating unforgettable experiences that go beyond just a pole dancing class. What truly sets us apart is the vibe we’ve built. It’s empowering, fun, and unforgettable. Every party we host is an opportunity for friends to step into a fun environment, let loose, and celebrate life’s milestones with their closest friends and family. I’ve been told countless times that what we offer is more than just a party it’s an experience! We make our guests feel comfortable, crazy fun photos ops and women walk away with a little more confidence. Plus, we’re proud to have over 285 five-star Google reviews and counting! That’s what makes us special.
What I’m Most Proud Of:
I’m incredibly proud of our dedication to providing such a unique and necessary service! Winning the title of ‘Best Bachelorette Spot in Dallas’ was a huge moment for us, but more than that, I’m proud of how our space makes women feel confident and celebrated. Whether they’re coming for a birthday, bachelorette, or just to have fun with their girls, the energy in the room is always electric!
My Professional Journey:
Getting to where I am today professionally wasn’t easy, but every challenge pushed me to grow. I’ve learned so much about running a business, from marketing, customer service and operations. My husband and I were in business together for 13 years, and after we sold our fitness studio, I decided to pivot and rebrand as DFW Pole Dance Parties. I joined a community of entrepreneurial pole studio owners from across the U.S., and that’s when I realized parties were a separate entity. Women are always looking for fun ways to celebrate!
The key to overcoming challenges was staying flexible and not being afraid to pivot when necessary. I tweaked my business model and stayed committed to my vision. I used to host parties at our first studio, but I quickly learned that it wasn’t just about fitness—it was about creating an experience, which makes my job even more fun!
Lessons Learned:
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of resilience. You’re going to face setbacks, but if you believe in what you’re doing, you have to keep going. Another lesson is not to worry about your competition. Focus on your purpose! At one point, I had several copycats, but I stayed true to my mission and values. Staying resourceful and open-minded has helped me stay ahead in an ever-changing industry.
What I Want the World to Know:
At the heart of DFW Pole Dance Parties is a mission to empower women and bring people together through fun, laughter, and celebration! We’re not just teaching pole dancing we’re building confidence, connections, and memories that lasts a lifetime. We all remember our first experience with something new and our brand is about embracing your full self and having fun while doing it!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When you’re craving that authentic Caribbean flavor, The Island Spot in Carrollton is my go-to! This Black owned gem in Dallas is serving up more than just food. It’s a vibe on wknds with live music!
I’d also like to shout out Quality Mobile Lab in Desoto, TX. I’ve had the chance to experience their IV hydration and B12 services, and it’s been a game changer! Whether I need a boost of energy or some hydration. They’ve made self-care so convenient and effective. Their service is top-notch, and I’m always left feeling recharged.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love, support, and mentorship from so many incredible people. First and foremost, I have to shout out my husband, Tabora, who’s been my rock through all the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. He’s always there to encourage me, help me brainstorm ideas, and remind me to keep pushing forward.
I also want to recognize the amazing women who come reserve & book their special occassions with Dfw Pole Dance Parties! Their energy, confidence, and sisterhood have been so inspiring. They’re the reason DFW Pole Dance Parties thrives. Seeing them celebrate, bringing their friends, mothers, daughters, bridesmaids, even grandmother’s! It constantly motivates me to keep creating these unforgettable experiences and potentially expand my services in the future.
A special shoutout to my studio partner who allows me to rent the space where all the magic happens. Their support and flexibility have been key in bringing my vision to life. I’m so grateful for their partnership, and it’s made all the difference in building this community.
Lastly, I have to give credit to the mentors and trailblazers in the pole dance and fitness world who paved the way for this type of empowerment. They made it possible for businesses like mine to flourish, and I’m grateful for their courage & comradery.
