We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Lane and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, how do you think about risk?
Incorporating the unique attributes of a business can always be a bit of a challenge. At times, I would catch myself steering away from my own likelihood, in order to emphasize the trends of today’s era. After incorporating what seemed to be the most popular choice of presentation, I started to realize the distinctive qualities that made my hairstyles an eye-catcher to others. The love that is incorporated within my hair business is displayed abundantly. It shows within the smiles of my clients, as they take a look in the mirror. In order to experience my great success, I had to become my own trend, set my own bar, and realize that my business is my runway! Modeling is not a choice, it is a necessity. Therefore, it my job to bring my runway to life!

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the owner of Love is in the Hair, a small beauty salon, specializing in braids. I am a professional hair braider, who displays great expertise in the art of braiding. I enjoy creating different types of looks, while working in close contact with my clients. Love is in the Hair is my greatest investment thus far. In today’s world, there is absolutely no way that you can get dressed without a hairstyle that compliments your style! As a young girl, I would stay in the mirror for hours while I figured out the perfect hairstyle. Trying new looks has always been my thing. I mean, why not? Your hair is your crown, it is your confidence, it is an expression of how you present yourself to the world. So yes, it is most definitely okay to be an obsessed with doing your hair in a way that suits yourself. The accuracy of teaching myself how to braid and mastering it was an investment within itself. From the age of 8, asking can I braid your hair, to the age of 28, being asked can you braid my hair feels absolutely amazing! I’ve always believed in the importance of letting your hair do the talking. I must say, it is such an excitement to know that I am able to assist my clients with great looks to do so!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Eating is a must! My top places would definitely have to be Truluck’s, Ocean Prime, Nick and Sam’s, Perry’s Steak House, Eddie V’s, and Harper’s. Nick and Sam’s has the cutest, yet sweetest drinks, and best hang out spot is The AT&T district. The food court is to die for!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a special shoutout to my family and friends for always encouraging me to see my goal, understand the obstacle, embrace the challenge, and show the world I can do it! Due to their motivation, I am now able to attract what I expect, reflect what I desire, become what I respect, and mirror what I admire! Thank you all so much for your inspiration. I love you more than you’ll ever know.
