We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tanya, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
When I decided to pursue a career in photography, I didn’t consider myself much of a creative person. I just thought, hey, i take some pretty good pictures, but as I started tapping into some thoughts and ideas I had and seeing them come alive in front of me, it gave me confidence. I wanted to explore more. It allowed me to experience the freedom in it. In this world, there are so many misconceptions and judgement’s, I think if you are able to find your way to liberation, especially in your career, something you do everyday, I think it’s worth pursuing.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of my favorite sayings is “Hustle beats talent when talent doesn’t hustle”. I have always felt this way in everything I do. I have built my brand around that. I work hard at what I do. My clients are extremely important to me and making sure they are totally happy with the work I present to them is a major key. Getting to where I am today took a lot of discipline and consistency and I am still pushing forward because I am not where I want to be yet. I will get there though. Everyday I have to overcome a new challenge. There are days when I feel like I’m getting burnt out or i’m just exhausted. I have days when I have no idea what to do next but the drive for me, like i mentioned before is the liberation in it. Freedom to decide what or how I want to create something is not to be taken for granted. Nina Dior Photography is here to leave a mark. Hard work, beautiful high quality photo’s. A wonderful, relaxed and fun experience from start to finish. Anyone that has ever worked with me knows this is what they will get and I can’t wait to bring that experience to more people here in Dallas.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
360 Texas Smoked BBQ in Arlington has been a go to spot for me for the past 4 years. The music is great and the food is amazing. Great vibes there, my number one place to go on the weekend. House of Blues in downtown Dallas is always a go to when I have friends coming in from out of town. Clicks in Arlington is my favorite place to go shoot pool, its never to crowded, the drinks are good and the vibe is really chill. When I want to get some shopping done, I head directly to the Highlands in Arlington. They have pretty much everything you could want and need, food, shopping, movies etc. Awesome area in DFW. And if you want to completely have a moment away from the diets and keto and the workouts, Fat Shack in Fort Worth would be the place to visit, the name says it all. Its Amazing..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
John Willform is someone I particularly want to shout out. He has been a consistent and positive voice in my ear for as long as I’ve known him. He owns a small business as well, selling home decor at Willform Goods, and is always motivating me to keep going, stay positive and work hard. He is one of the most consistent and driven small business owners in DFW. He definitely deserves a shout out!
