We had the good fortune of connecting with Sutton Fister and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sutton, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
To me, the most important factor behind my success is authenticity. Being myself and being true to myself has really helped me get to where I am today. It’s all about showering the world with love and kindness! It’s amazing how far that can get you!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a drag artist in Chicago that has been doing drag for almost 5 years. I am also a comedian that was trained at iO Chicago as well as The Second City. Being able to incorporate those two things together really has set me apart from others.

The thing I thing that I am the most proud of currently is my Twitch Partnership. I lost all my drag gigs at the beginning of the pandemic and had no idea what I was going to do. With drag moving onto the digital stage via Twitch, I came to find that there were a lot of drag artists that were already on the platform playing games and streaming live. I reached out to one of my friends who happened to be doing this and asked her if it was a viable thing to do and she said that I should definitely go for it and I did. After our conversation, I bought a computer set up and went to work. That was in August of 2020. I worked very hard to gain a following and an amazing community on Twitch and that is how I have been able to get to where I am today! For me, I have always been a people person and this was just another outlet for me to be able to talk to people and crack jokes and just be all around silly.

What I want people to know about me is that I am genuine in my actions and that I love everyone and want to see everyone be happy and succeed. Also, I want people to know that if you are genuine to yourself you can shoot for the stars and get there!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh let me tell you! If my best friend was visiting me, we would have the most fun! I live in the queer neighborhood in Chicago so I know all the right spots to go to! The first night (and probably every other night they would be here) we would go to one of the many bars in the area and see a drag show as well as get cocktails. We would then pick a day and go to one of the many beautiful and amazing museums here in Chicago. On one of the last nights here I would set us up with an amazing reservation to one of the many amazing restaurants we have in downtown. That night we would also get tickets to one of the many theater shows that happen in the city.

To me, the most fun and exciting thigs to do in the city aren’t the super touristy things like “The Bean” or the “Mag Mile”, It’s seeing the queer scene and the amazing people that are here.

Also, controversial statement, Deep Dish Pizza is overrated

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would say my family and friends are my biggest support group. They have encouraged me to do what I want in the loving way that I do it!
