Meet Sterlynn Jones | Non profit Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sterlynn Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sterlynn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Every challenge I’ve faced, from personal setbacks to professional roadblocks, has fueled my commitment to serve others through education, empowerment, and lifesaving skills. My brand was built not just from a business plan, but from real-life experiences that shaped my mission: helping people save themselves before they save others. That deeper sense of purpose has kept me focused, authentic, and unwavering in my efforts to create programs that truly impact lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Sterling First Aid CPR, Inc., we believe that saving lives starts with empowering everyday people—especially mothers, students, and underserved communities—with real, hands-on training. What sets us apart is not just what we teach, but how and why we teach it.
We offer free CPR and first aid training for mothers because we know that in an emergency, a mother is often the first responder. We also provide in-person CPR training in high schools, making sure students are equipped with life-saving skills before they graduate—something that is often skipped or taught only online. We’re filling that gap with hands-on education that sticks.
Our partnerships with schools, churches, nonprofits, and local organizations allow us to reach further and impact more lives. We work hard to secure grants, donor support, and community partnerships so that cost is never a barrier to critical training.
Getting to this point was anything but easy. I’ve had to overcome personal hardship, identity theft, and the stigma that often comes with rebuilding after life knocks you down. But I turned those experiences into fuel—and into a calling. My biggest lesson? Purpose doesn’t always come from success—it often comes from pain, perseverance, and the decision to keep showing up.
I want the world to know that Sterling First Aid CPR isn’t just a training service—it’s a movement. We are changing lives one skill, one person, one heartbeat at a time. And we’re just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit Dallas for a week, I’d plan an experience that’s soulful, inspiring, and unforgettable—Sterlyn-style—with purpose, pampering, and a little play!
Day 1: Arrival & Soulful Vibes
We’d kick things off with brunch at The Biscuit Bar in Deep Ellum, then stroll through the Deep Ellum Arts District for some colorful murals and boutique shopping. That evening, we’d dine in style at Dragonfly—a chic, upscale spot with bold vibes and even bolder flavor.
Day 2: History & Purpose
We’d visit the African American Museum in Fair Park, then stop by the Juanita Craft House to honor a true icon. For dinner, we’d dress up and head to Monarch, perched high above the city with breathtaking views and elevated Italian cuisine.
Day 3: Community & Connection
We’d start the day with a hands-on CPR training session with Sterling First Aid CPR—because saving lives is always in style. Afterward, we’d grab tacos at Velvet Taco, then explore McKinney Avenue in Uptown for cocktails, live music, and an electric nightlife scene.
Day 4: Nature, Golf & Chill
We’d take it outside with a morning round of golf at Topgolf or a local course like Tenison Park Golf Course—something relaxing but fun. Then we’d unwind at White Rock Lake or stroll through the Dallas Arboretum. Dinner would be casual but delicious at The Island Spot for Caribbean flavor and vibes.
Day 5: Giving Back & Glam
We’d spend part of the day volunteering at a community pantry or nonprofit partner location. That evening, we’d glam up for a night out—starting with cocktails at Sky Blossom rooftop, followed by dinner and dancing at Vidorra or another lively downtown spot.
Day 6: Shopping, Self-Care & Rooftop Views
We’d spend the day shopping at NorthPark Center or exploring the artsy Bishop Arts District, then get pampered with massages or mani-pedis at The Heyday Spa. Dinner would be somewhere trendy and classy—maybe a return to McKinney Ave or a chill late-night dessert at XOXO Dining Room.
Day 7: Brunch & Blessings
We’d close the week with Sunday brunch at Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles, followed by a visit to a local church for worship and reflection. Before heading to the airport, we’d take one last drive through the city, windows down, music up, soaking it all in.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to every person who believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself—especially the women in my life who reminded me of my strength when I felt powerless. I also want to recognize my children, who are the heartbeat behind everything I do. Their love gave me a reason to fight back, to heal, and to rebuild.
A special shoutout also goes to the mentors, faith leaders, and educators who poured into me with wisdom and grace, and to every survivor who shared their truth and inspired me to stand in mine. Lastly, I want to recognize the late Dr. Maya Angelou—her words taught me that “still, like dust, I’ll rise,” and I carry that spirit in my work every day.
My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s been filled with the kind of support that turns pain into purpose—and for that, I’m deeply grateful.
