Meet Stephen Farrar | CEO and Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Farrar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
At Premise Career Academy, everything we do is centered around people. People with real lives and real families, and people who deserve real second chances.
Many of our students come to us at a turning point. Some are working jobs with no clear path forward, some are supporting families, and others just need an opportunity to prove to themselves that they can do more. We give them that opportunity. An entry point into the healthcare field that feels achievable, supportive, and life-changing.
When our students graduate, it’s bigger than a certificate. It means a parent can provide more stability at home. It means someone gains confidence they’ve never had before. It means a door opens that can impact generations.
That impact doesn’t stop with our students. It flows directly into the community. Our graduates go on to work in local clinics and healthcare facilities, often serving patients who look like them, speak their language, and understand their experiences. That kind of connection builds trust and leads to better care.
So for us, helping the community isn’t just about educating its citizens, its about strengthening families, providing economic stability, opening up growth opportunities and improving the quality of care right here at home.

What should our readers know about your business?
Premise Career Academy was built to solve a real problem we were seeing every day: clinics struggling to find skilled, reliable medical assistants, and at the same time, people in our community looking for a better path but not knowing where to start.
What sets us apart is that we don’t just teach, we prepare people for real life in healthcare. Our program is designed around what actually happens inside clinics, not just textbooks. Because we operate within the healthcare space ourselves, we understand exactly what employers need, and we train our students with that standard in mind. There’s a level of accountability, support, and real-world exposure here that’s different.
What I’m most proud of is the transformation we see in our students. People come in unsure, sometimes overwhelmed, and leave confident, skilled, and ready to step into a career. That shift—watching someone realize their potential—is what drives everything we do.
The journey to get here definitely wasn’t easy. Like most businesses, it started with an idea and a lot of uncertainty. There were challenges around building the right structure, navigating regulations, earning state licenses, gaining trust, and growing without unlimited resources. We didn’t have perfect conditions. We had to figure things out as we went, stay persistent, and keep the mission at the center of every decision.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that clarity of purpose matters more than perfection. You don’t need everything to be perfect to start, but you do need to be clear on why you’re doing it. I’ve also learned that the right people—whether it’s your team, your partners, or your supporters—make all the difference.
What I want people to know about our brand is that this is bigger than a school. It’s about access, opportunity, and impact. We’re here for the people who are ready for more but just need a real shot. And we’re committed to building something that not only changes individual lives, but strengthens the healthcare system and the community as a whole.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A lot of people don’t realize this, but I’m a cowboy at heart. I thoroughly enjoy the stockyards and in particular brunch at Hotel Drover with my wife. After that we typically go shopping for cowboy boots, hats, anything western and getting our steps in. For a different vibe we like to visit Bishop Arts and enjoy all the shops and great food spots.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a shoutout to the people who’ve carried this vision with me. My wife, Caz, who holds everything together behind the scenes on the days no one else sees. My kids, who remind me why this work matters and never stop believing in this important mission. My staff, who show up every single day with heart and purpose. And so many others who believed in this before it ever became real and continue to stand with us.
