We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Brown Kegler and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the BELIEVABLE FACTOR! When you can get people to believe then all parties involved are winners!. I target the forgotten Christians and the middle age/older generation. 50 is now the new 30 and because we still feel vibrant and young…we want to do things that continue to make us feel that way. As far as Churches and religious organizations, they are great at helping those in need, praying for them, feeding them, visiting them in the hospital but they never seem to think they need to take care of themselves. It’s impossible to keep doing all of these wonderful things but when you become sick, tired etc. it can’t continue. Christians also shy away from fitness formats for various reasons. One being music! So I provide an all inspirational/gospel playlist during the work-outs. All playlist are themed based on the group I’m working with. This provides a very comfortable environment and they are now moving and grooving to the tunes they are used to. I also focus on health as we are not all made from the same cookie cutter. Goal- PERFECT BODY, NO! PERFECT HEALTH, YES! This is drilled into them and now they believe it as they are feeling energetic, their doctor’s have taken them off their meds and they are reaping benefits internally and externally!
What should our readers know about your business?
My biggest accomplishment is Dancing Without Sin® becoming a US registered trademark! But my biggest to date is receiving an email from my attorneys last month that my second US registered trademark MOVEMENT MINISTER® a subsidiary of Dancing Without Sin was approved. This will begin the process of licensing instructors under my brand.
I was able to get to where I am today by helping people. Making a difference in someone’s health, livelihood, mentality is the most rewarding thing in the world. I do a lot of charity events in our community which I love. During the two year pandemic I worried about the world moving. Depression set in, weight gain, health issues, detachment for the world but we couldn’t meet anymore to work-out. So I started doing on-line classes 5 times a week. To get everyone involved and moving I taught for free with April for 8 months. After that time we continued the virtual classes and started charging a minimum fee of $1 per class. So it wasn’t about the money it was all about keeping the world moving. During the pandemic the #MOVEPEOPLE campaign began. Everyone order the bright yellow t-shirts with matching leggings and began to move even if it was taking a walk outside. I was super proud of the movement and the progress everyone made.
I honestly did not have too many challenges. Any challenges I had were personal issues such as scheduling too many events in one day and becoming extremely tire. I have ran my business without a brick mortar since 2015. always used community recreation centers, churches, clients homes etc. I am proud to say last month I purchased my first brick and mortar! I have not opened up yet as I am painting etc. There are several things I need help with and currently looking for grants to assist. Once I can open I will provide classes such as Sinless chair fitness, dance fitness, Refusal to Give in resistance band training, Praise Turn-up, Sinless Abs, Sinless Stretch, Healthy cooking class such as meal prep, smoothie bar, workshops, and more!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ok so if my best friend has their children the first spot we would visit would be the Drop Zone drop-in child care so we can be childless while having a great time! Since I am a fitness guru we would definitely have to go and check out a morning class at the Fitness Connection.
Next stop is breakfast! Uptown Chicken and Waffles where we can get shrimp and grits, salmon bites, waffles etc.
After breakfast we would shower and change into a comfortable outfit and head to the Airborne museum. After that stroll next it would be a visit to Cross Creek Mall. A little shopping is always good for the soul.
Lunch time we would visit Lou & Edna’s restaurant Got Chew Grill
Our change of clothes would be in the car as I would have set up a surprise photo shoot downtown with Keith owner of IKreate Consulting. My best friend would enjoy this as she could be herself, let down her hair and allow the camera to capture the best of her,
Dinner would be at Nita’s Grill where we can get the southern dishes such as fried pork chops, fried fish, mac and cheese etc.
We would end the night at the Sip Room downtown. I don’t drink but they make a mean fruit juice full of edible fruit and the atmosphere is silky smooth.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost my Lord and Savior because without him this would not be possible. I have the most beautiful, caring supportive Mother ever! Georgia Brooks Askew
My daughter Savanna Blanton has believed in my vision from the day I started my business. To this day she assist me with decision making, ideas and business ventures. My employees Dani and Cerina. We work together at a 9-5 but they have supported my business out in the community for years.
The Da’Ville Girlz is a group (Dance Fitness Instructors) that started me on my journey before I even thought about starting a business, I learned so much from them.
My sister cousins and wonderful family, best friends that accept me for who I am and help me solve my issues, my business circle that holds me accountable and support me in everyway
