We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefanie Tovar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stefanie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Hanuman Homies provides tools of Yoga and Mindfulness to support Youth, Families, and Adults in coping with the many stressors of life. We cannot always control what happens to us in life, but with resources we may be able to cope and respond to what happens to us in a way that can help us move forward with clarity, wisdom, and love. We do what we can to provide tangible resources as well and invite the community take part in helping us support one another through donation drives and donation wellness practices. We also look forward to being back at Klyde Warren Park to provide Free Wellness to all. We believe that wellness is a human right, not a privilege. And we hope to help inspire accessibility to wellness for all. Healing Arts with Stefanie is another expression of my heart that also hopes to champion wellness as a way to live throughout our modern lives. My mission is to help people awaken to what wellness means within us and among us through offerings of collective storytelling, practices of yoga and meditation to include sacred music and mantra accompanied with harmonium music and my voice and more. Oftentimes wellness practices can get us stuck in a loop of self absorption and self care as the only focus. I am passionate about us opening our eyes and hearts to each other as well to see how we can support in Collective Wellness, Care and Liberation.Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began as an international performing artist for Sesame Street Live. It was incredible to perform for children and families across the globe and I see my time with Sesame Street as a reminder to always lead with Love and Expansiveness. Through traveling I felt a great calling to be in service to communities through artistry to Inspire Wellness, Healing and Empowerment; as performing arts provided this for me growing up. No matter what was happening in my home, school or life I always had the stage and performing arts to help me express the Truth residing in my Heart. Tragedy impacted my life while on the road and I shifted from healing onstage to healing on my yoga mat as I needed space for grieving, self inquiry, reflection, healing, and Loving Action. In 2008 I began facilitating Yoga in studios and schools with creative flows and passion for the philosophy. My musical voice wasn’t present in spaces as I needed time to heal from a period in which I wasn’t able to access Truth onstage because the pain of tragedy was too much to release in my professional environement. In 2013 I attended a Bhakti Immersion with my beloved teacher, Sean Johnson, at Wild Lotus Studios in New Orleans and within the month began offering live sacred sounds to close every offering I provided throughout DFW and in festivals across the US. Our times have revealed so much about what is True, what is possible and what is conditioned to be appropriate in our homes and in many spaces. I have been interested in what lies beneath the surface to uncover who we truly are and who we can be when we relate to one another: Heart to Heart and Soul to Soul. My hope is that my sounds and actions encourage healing and a sense of upheaval to hold space for what is ready to be seen and what is ready to be released. This is why I entitle my work Healing Arts. Since my beginnings were as a professional storyteller, space holder and space creator; I am passionate about creating experiences: not just wellness workouts that help us escape and bypass truth. I want to help people come home to their true selves and home to what needs to be done to support wellness for all.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would make sure that we visited Cosmic Cafe for some chai, inspiration and DELICIOUS FOOD! Another must would be to go to Klyde Warren Park for wellness outside and coffee at Liberation Coffee and some eats at the Cafe Momentum food truck. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am so indebted to Ben Tavera King for his mentorship and his support in getting my music heard through resources to stream and listen in various ways. I am so grateful for his seasoned approach to helping me record and get my sounds of wellness accesible to people. His knowledge and support means so much to me and has helped me move forward with Creativity and Wellness.
