We had the good fortune of connecting with Sonia McClintock and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sonia, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Community is the most important factor behind the success of my business. Building relationships with other small business owners, mothers, and women is one of the most important parts of my business. I’m very active in the small shop community because I want us all to succeed.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I focus on creating jewelry styles for all sizes. Mamas love to match their babes so I try to make items that are fun and wearable for all ages. I’m most proud of my handmade items because I pour a lot of love into each piece. I fell into my business because my daughter loves jewelry and I’ve grown so much with the support of the small shop community. Fine tuning my aesthetic and technique hasn’t been easy, but I’m always taking feedback/learning from my customers. That’s how I got where I am! I’ve learned to be patient with myself. Keeping positive helps to guide my day to day. I want the world to be encouraged by my story. Owning a business is scary! That’s how you know you’re doing it right!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m pretty simple! I like to eat so I would probably start with Spiral Diner because it is my absolute fave! Klyde Warren Park is another fun, beautiful location to visit. I would also take them to one of the Dallas Breweries (take your pick!).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shoutout to Nina Cabello, Cecilia Saiz, and Cheyenne Hernandez. These women have provided me with consistent encouragement and support throughout this journey. My business would not be where it is without them.
