Meet Smiz Smith | Artist & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Smiz Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Smiz, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always loved to create, and draw since I was a little kid. I’m a fan of all the Arts, I was a professional dancer for a while, I love to make music, and I even workout/train like a bodybuilder.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When the pandemic hit, I was a personal trainer, but all of that stopped abruptly. I had a lot of extra time in my hands, so my first thought was, “why not Art?”
There are tons of great Artists in the space already, and I knew I’d be ice skating up hill trying to just post the conventional way. I was able to break in and get exposure by talking about the “Artist’s Struggle” in a comedic way on TikTok.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My go to is the old incinerator in Fort Worth. It’s covered with tons of graffiti and is perfect for photos, Art references, or just hanging out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to shoutout two people in particular; My uncle, JayDubb, and my Mother, Lena!
My uncle first introduced me to Art and cartoons at a young age. We would hang out, and watch classics and play video games.
My mom has always supported me, and my weird, quirky art ways. In fact, she’s partnered with my uncle to create a series of children’s books “Lena’s Adventures”!
