We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelby Henderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelby, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
These past two years have been really tough for me and my business. I lost my father last year in January and almost gave up on my brand. I was overwhelmed, lost, and confused. However, I went to God about my issues. He was the one who gave me the dream of being an entrepreneur. He’s my source in my everyday life.

My advice to those who are in a battle of decisions: Seek God about it. Sometimes, we think that it is over, but in reality, we may need time to reset and relax. This world is ever-changing, so it is important that entrepreneurs especially are equipped to pivot when the time comes.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
O’Glory Catering Company is a faith-based business providing distinctive, professional food solutions with a southern fusion flare. We take pride in our efforts of curating remarkable experiences to enjoy with infused flavors of blended cultures. I can say that being an entrepreneur, whether Full-time or Part-time is tough. I almost placed my ‘hat down’ and wanted to quit. I have overcome so many obstacles which keep me motivated to not give up just yet. Things happen, but we have to keep it moving. I don’t take no for an answer when it comes to my passion. So I say that it is by the grace and mercy of God that I am still standing. We are still pushing and moving into a new direction; a more refined one and I can never be so proud of us!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow, I hate to do this sometimes because I know that I will miss someone. I would like to first thank God for blessing me with the gift of cooking. I want to thank my family and close friends who have supported me from the beginning. Also, I want to thank one of my best friends and mentor, Lex. When I returned back to the States from Australia, Lex took me under his wings and challenged me to think like a real chef. I will never forget the times we have shared and the advice he gives. I can count on him for literally everything. I would also like to thank my clients who continue to share my social media posts or tell their friends/family about my services. It truly means a lot to me knowing that I have people who truly want to see me win daily.
