We had the good fortune of connecting with Shavawn Everitt, RID, ASID, NCIDQ and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shavawn, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting a business is not for the faint of hearts! In my opinion, there must be passion behind why you’re starting the business. For me construction was my passion! And I realized that I could help others with my passion – not just the clients, but the entire design team. But it’s not just about helping others. It’s about filling a void that exists within the industry, supporting everyone on the design/construction team and improving the process completely. So, I started my business with these specific goals in mind.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We do not just help build your home; we stylize your home! There is a distinct difference between decorating a home and stylizing it. Decorating is always just the final touches on the canvas. Stylizing, however, creates the canvas!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fort Worth is an EXCITING city to live; filled with a lot of MUST TRY hometown classics! When I have family or friends visit, we always grab breakfast at Lucile’s – it’s a Fort Worth classic! A day at the Stockyards is constantly a good time with cattle drives and cowboys. HOWDY COWBOYS!! Grab some fajitas and top shelf margaritas at Joe T. Garcia’s for dinner and course end the evening at Billy Bob’s for some world class Honky Tonk and Boot Scootin Boogie!! Now that’s a ‘Fort Worth’ good time!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One of the greatest books I have ever read is Excellence Wins by Horst Schulze. “We are ladies and gentlemen, serving ladies and gentlemen”. Horst’s motto resonated with me the reality that I was not only working with the client to develop their dream home, but I was working with the entire design/construction team – this includes the tile layers, electricians and even the demo crews. It was then that I realized my role was to serve everyone involved. The result: happy clients receive the home of their dreams by eliminating the chaos and stress of construction.
