We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Tomer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
A glass of wine, honestly. I was searching for a replacement Christmas wreath on Etsy and in the local craft stores but nothing was catching my eye and the Etsy wreaths were not in my budget, at the time. I decided to try and create my own wreath. I started watching DIY videos. I found something to start with and went with it. I then started to get interest from friends and family wanting to purchase my wreaths. But, I wasn’t completely satisfied with my product, so I continued watching and teaching myself to create bigger and greater items. Once I was happy with my work, I had a lot more interest and I also promoted more and that’s when I created my company. I have been in business for almost 2 years now. I have been a vendor at several local craft fairs now and I also put my wreaths in a local boutique. I am a stay at home mom, so I have the opportunity to focus on growing my business and to show my children, that if you have a passion, follow it, no matter what.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I create one of a kind, Texas size, wreaths. I also create custom wreaths for my customers. I use quality materials and I put my love into each wreath I create. I am excited to be able to offer wreath making classes, that’s my newest addition to my company. I love creating, so I am excited to be able to teach others how to create their perfect wreath. The challenge is not having a lot of followers on my business page and not having the opportunity to teach and show others what I can do. I have learned that there are going to be ups and downs within the wreath business and economy and that’s ok, just go with the flow and things will work out. Always have faith and things will happen.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lunch at a local Mexican restaurant and then shopping at the outlet mall. Dinner would be somewhere that sells the best brisket. We’d play a visit to the zoo, the state fair and just relaxing at the pool.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and children are my biggest fans and supporters, but my husband, is my rock. He attends the craft fairs with me as my husband, salesman and just my everything. If it wasn’t for his encouragement and support, I would not be where I am.
