We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Estes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what role does tech play in your business?
Preuve, a boutique digital creative agency, is centered around technology. From the apps/tools used to manage files, financials, project communications to the ever-evolving digital advertising world, technology is what powers my business. I do feel that there is a lack of technology developed for small business owners who are trying to understand their “digital grade” on the web, manage social media, etc.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
A combination of strategic planning, self-confidence, and daydreaming led me to where I am today. Between my college basics and core classes, I took some time off to explore a little town called Telluride in Colorado. Because I lived in the middle of no internet land, I walked to the library several times a week and got lost in information. When I wasn’t at the library or one of my two jobs, I was hiking, learning how to fly fish, listening to the sound of fresh falling snow, and daydreaming about what my next move was. After 8 months of exploring, I decided to go back to school and dedicate 100% of my energy and effort to doing as many internships as possible and graduating with honors. After graduation, I tossed the Joe T.’s apron that allowed me to pay for school and decided to jump into the digital advertising agency arena. And then came the curveball, I had kids and my goals pivoted almost overnight. I didn’t care so much about the dream office overlooking Downtown Fort Worth anymore, I became determined to be a great mother for my kids. For me, this meant needing to transition from full-time agency life to contracting work so that I had more control over my work/life balance. The lessons I’ve learned are to take one step at a time, so you don’t overwhelm yourself. Have a long term goal in mind, so you have something to guide your path. Stand up for yourself when it counts and don’t wait for the handout – identify the opportunity and take it. Recently, I merged Estes Digital, my solo contract business, with my former colleague, Jon Chapman to create Preuve. His unique skillsets, experience, and big aspirations, mean that together we are every business owners marketing dream team!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For starters, I suggest they stay at the Omni because people get such a kick out of the valets who wear cowboy hats. From there, you can walk to so many sweet little Downtown spots within minutes. We would definitely do brunch at Joe T.’s who has the best people watching patio in Fort Worth! Then we would go to the Southside to bar hop, and end with dinner somewhere off the red brick roads of Camp Bowie – preferably Little Lily’s Sushi. Endless exploring opportunities in Funkytown.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It feels cruel to only recognize A person as so many people deserve a little credit. Because I don’t want this to be an Oscars style speech, I’d like to shout out God. Without Him and all the small miracles that he’s made happen on my behalf, I honestly wouldn’t be here today.
