We had the good fortune of connecting with Cindy Arthur and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cindy, let’s jump right in. What are you most passionate about? Why?
I would have to say I’m most passionate about creating memories for my family and my clients. Photographs are the window to the past and it’s the one thing that keeps us connected to family and loved ones for generations to come. When I was younger, I loved going through old photographs and learning about relatives from generations ago. It was fascinating to me to see resemblances and to learn their stories. When I photograph clients, the most important thing to me is to capture their personalities and for the portraits to represent them well. It’s the most important feedback to me, when a mom says I captured them perfectly. Photography is important, and I feel blessed and honored to be able to provide lasting memories for my family, friends and clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Cindy Arthur Photography, based in Plano, TX. I am a portrait photographer specializing in Family, Children and High School Seniors. My sessions are held outdoors, and I can say that my portraits are known for the deep, rich, warm color. If I could, I would love to shoot all my sessions during a gorgeous golden hour, right before sunset. I have had the honor of having over 30 magazine covers, some of them international publications. I’ve also been named one of the top senior and teen photographers in the country by several publications. In 2017 I won one of the coveted People’s Choice awards for the “Your Best Shot of 2016” international photography contest. Out of over 6,000 entries, I was in the top 3! My entry was a picture of my beautiful daughter, so it made it even more special for me! The last few years I have been one of several local photographers donating our services to our first responders and military personnel every September 11th, as a way to thank them for their service. It’s such a small gesture, but it’s so fulfilling to be able to give them something they cherish so much. They are always so grateful and appreciative. Being able to do that for them is really one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to do in the North Dallas area! I would definitely recommend visiting Shops of Legacy and Legacy West in Plano. Legacy Hall in Legacy West is an eclectic group of restaurants and bars and features live music and festivals. Shopping in Legacy West feels like you might be in LA, very chic with many popular restaurants and shops. I’d also suggest hopping over to downtown McKinney! It’s a small town square with the courthouse as the centerpiece, surrounded by trendy restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shout out to my dad! My father was a hobbyist photographer when I was growing up. He took amazing photos of our family and he would develop them in a homemade dark room he had at the house. I grew to love photography at a young age and I love that I have turned that love into a career.
