We had the good fortune of connecting with Sameer Kumar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sameer, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am an adventerous person by nature with a lot of confidence (maybe overconfidence) in my own abilities. Starting my own business has been an idea that has appealed to me from a very long time. I got an engineering, MBA and some great Corporate experience. When the opportunity for a small business presented itself, there was no hesitation in my and my spouse’s decision making.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have owned two Childcare centers in the past which I had to exit in the pandemic. I am a current co-owner of Wize Computing Academy of Plano and Frisco. We just started this business in Feb 2020, so things have been somewhat slow with the pandemic creating significant headwinds. Despite that we have grown to a consumer base of almost 50 children, and we feel very bullish about the upside opportunity ahead of us once things get to the new normal. Succeding in any Entreprenuerial venture is not easy. If it comes easy, you probably lucked out by finding yourself in favorable business dynamics. Entreprenuership is hard, and not for the faint hearted. Persistence and belief in self are the two most important aspects one will need to succeed. The biggest lesson I learnt was to not take on more than you can chew because it can hurt and hurt very bad if things go south. The other lesson I learnt is you will be fine, no matter what happens. We human beings are resliient and very strong, and always find a way out. As far as my brand Wize Computing Academy, I believe I have found myself with the right company – we teach Robotics and Coding to young children. Our curriculum is out of the world, and your child will thoroughly enjoy and flourish in our program. The world is going there – help your child get a head start by enrolling in our program.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Katy Trail for walking, Northshore trail for mountain bikers, Ray Roberts state park for relaxing, Perot museum and/or aquarium if you have kiddos, Uptown Dallas, Legacy West Plano or McKinney downtown for restaraunts

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents who have always made me believe I am special. Darden Business School and my wife, Arya Kalla. The absence of either would have likely meant I may not have pursued the path of Entrepreneurship. And my partner Alpa Sharma who is the main reason I pursued Wize Computing Academy.
