Meet Samarra Samone | Singer/Songwriter & business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samarra Samone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samarra, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The two most important lessons that my career has taught me is patience and sacrifice. “Rome was not built in a day.” I understand more so, now that when you are building something of great value, it takes time, consistency, and HARD work. Being willing to put in the extra time and work that others aren’t willing to put in. You will have to make sacrifices that others aren’t willing to make, in order to build a successful business/career. Sacrificing doesn’t feel good, but is so worth it in the end.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Samarra Samone and I consider myself to be a singer/songwriter and business owner.

I was always a singer first, but my journey has led me to becoming a top 10 billboard songwriter! My first placement single, “Relax” (artist: Chrissy) written by myself, hit the charts in 2021. My journey as a songwriter began in 2018 when I was introduced to the music industry by a well established producer by the name of T. Black. He has worked in the music industry for 15+ years and little did I know that he would become the love of my life. If it wasn’t for T. Black moving me from Little Rock, AR to Atlanta, GA, I wouldn’t have made the connections that I’ve made and I wouldn’t have gained so much knowledge about the music industry. I became familiar with the business, I’ve learned how to become a recording engineer. I’ve built professional relationships along the way and began songwriting for artists. I’ve had the privilege to write for Marcus Houston, J Boog (of B2K), and a new artist by the name of Chrissy (just to name a few). I have had the opportunity to work with other amazing creatives such as Grammy award winner Rico Love (he has written for Beyoncé, Keri Hilson, Usher and many more) and also grammy nominated creative- Tiyon “TC” Christian(written for Mariah Carey, Brandy, Beyoncé, Tamar Braxton and many more). I was afforded the opportunity to pursue being an artist with my husband when we created a group duo by the name of GODMADE Duo. We were able to release a project called “VIB3S”, tour and work with amazing producers and meet incredible creatives. I am now Co- owner of GODMADE LLC located in Louisiana. GODMADE means to be who you are, be creative, and be what/who God made you to be while walking in your God-given purpose. Our GODMADE company consists of a new independent record label, a creative arts studio, a film company and an apparel printing shop. We are in the final stages of the renovations of our facility. Our creative studio is a facility for youth to come, learn, and create what they love, whether if it’s music, dance, or any creative art content etc. Along with co owning our GODMADE company, I have also been adjusting to being a new wife and bonus mom! All the while deciding to pursue my dream as an artist and working on my debut project, which will release soon!!!!

Over the course of time, I have been faced with challenge after challenge. Life wasn’t always sweet.

My husband and I were homeless. I will never forget sleeping in a recording studio because we didn’t have a place to stay. I remember going from Hotel to hotel, sleeping in our old truck. I remember working so hard to even get 1 placement and I kept being told “no” or “this is not a hit” so many times, until I was in tears from working literally ALL DAY, from morning until early the next morning, just to create ONE song!!!! I also remember being scammed by so many who would make promises that they wouldn’t keep and then steal our money and disappear. Yes, I have encountered a lot. With God, you can overcome anything, no matter how much or how bad your encounter may seem!

I overcame the challenges I was faced with by praying, changing my mindset to think positive and find the positive in every negative situation. I knew that if I wanted things to change, I not only had to believe that things would change but I also had to do what I knew to do, to make things change as well. I understood patience and I understood that I had to face challenges to learn and grow and to obtain what I wanted in life. My prayer is that I can always inspire others to want to be better and to want to know God.

I had to let go of FEAR and had to embrace FAITH.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So I am originally from Little Rock, AR and I relocated to Atlanta, Ga. Now, I’ve been living in Louisiana for the past year and I absolutely LOVE traveling south of Louisiana. They have the BEST food! I LOVE food! So, I will give you my fav spots in all 3 states!!! In Little Rock, AR my fav dinner spot is Samantha’s Tap Room & Wood Grill. I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Big Munchies!!! That’s if you love a good burger, chicken or fish!!!

In Atlanta, my favorite food spot (for good chicken and fish) is JJ’s chicken and fish. You want a good Philly cheesesteak? Weeyum’s is the place you want to be. Now, if you are looking for fine dining in ATL, go to Fogo de Chão! They will not disappoint!

In Louisiana, they have a restaurant in Lake Charles (in the the L’auberge casino) that’s called the Ember Grille & Wine bar. I love food, so I will immediately give you food spots before anything else lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to the love of my life, my husband and my 3 boys!

Without them, I wouldn’t have pushed past my limits to obtain even the small amount of success that I’ve been blessed to have, today. They are my motivation!

And we STILL haven’t scratched the surface! 😉
